Whilst I agree it wasn’t quite so good it was very interesting. What a mixed heritage she has.

It must have been devastating to find out that the slave owner in your direct line was actually a man of colour. I,m sure that bit never crossed her mind.

Mmmm, bland is a good word to describe it, Joan.

It was interesting if not as animated as usual - and we could certainly see that covid restrictions were in place.

Names, I agree. It surprised me to find that it appeared that she never seemed to realise that people of colour often had slaves of colour - they did so in Africa first, before it happened in the USA and elsewhere.

Sadly, it seems it is not much touched on in history lessons anywhere - but perhaps it is in African schools - whose education systems I know nothing about - but I would expect it to be so.

Enjoyed the episodes so far although I didn't find Judi Dench as interesting as the other two.

I agree about the lack of black history lessons in schools which I believe is how Black History Month came about. I watched Roots years ago on TV and learnt such a lot from that. I think if you don't have an interest in history things just pass you by.

I remember another WDYTYA where the person found out they had a black slave owner as an ancestor and was upset by it. It might have been Ainsley Harriot but not sure.

Enjoyed Pixie Lott. Very good for the week it was in as there was quite a lot about the military.

Thought the man in the Italian church needed to gen up on his Roman Catholic knowledge.

The names were not an Italian version it was Latin as all Roman Catholic documents were until the 1960s or 70s. :-S
