Busier than I have been in a long time - I really don't do very much at all these days!

You are right about keeping the heating on. We have our thermostat set at 21.5 all year and the heating just comes on if the house gets below that. Switching on an off IS more expensive. As for the electricity - my hubby worked in a power station and he has always said that it costs more to switch a light on an doff than to just keep it on once it's on - so on an evening our house is like Blackpool!!!

Never thought about turning it down overnight, Von....It switches of at 12pm and switches on again at 4'30 cos I'm an early riser ...might try that this year :-D

We put ours off in the night, and at the moment I'm not putting it on until the afternoon as it's been quite pleasant here the last few days. I just turn the heating thermostat until it clicks on which is usually between 17 and 18 degrees.

we had thermostats on every radiators in our UK home so bedrooms weren't too warm but the sitting room was the warmest room
