I have just received an e-mail from Historic Royal Palaces. Tickets are now going on sale.

There are three types.

Superbloom and Tower of London.

Superbloom Only.

Public viewing path. This is free, but ticketed to perhaps avoid crushes.

The website will provide pricing, according to date I believe, but there are concessions for children and the over 65's.

ZZzz, it might be difficult for him with all that brass. ;-)

I do hope they have sunflowers in the mix. Just looking at them makes me smile. <3

RTR needs to wind his neck in, I'm looking forward to some cheer and happy times.

I think it is an excellent idea and just we need to cheer us up with all that is going on in the world right now.

Absolutely fabulous for the kids, Maddie. I think it’s a great idea as long as there are arrangements for them to exit the floral area without trampling and spoiling the visual effect.

Also, I like the changing colours during those summer months.

Latest update on the Jubilee Celebrations.

Historic Palaces, The Tower of London, are to install a Moat Slide. It will be a 4 lane, 17.5m slide, for visitors to land in a 'vibrant sea of flowers.'

The organisers want visitors 'to arrive in the flowers with a sense of occasion and fun'

Great for the kids. :-D :-D

There are small 'beaches' along the Thames, Bob. It is where the mudlarks and detectorist have to have a license to search.

Bit more information about the flowers.

There are 20 million seeds to be sown in March. They are meadowfield flowers.

In June, the flowers will be white and pink.

In July, the blue and purple flowers will bloom.

August and September, they will be gold, yellow and orange.

So whenever, if, you are able to visit, there will always be a lovely display.

The project is partly being supported by the Livery Companies of London.

A rellie prisoner in the Tower. Hardly surprising. ;-)

Rollo, just a thought. Perhaps we ought to be grateful that Britons did not destroy the Tower?

Without going into the intricacies of who was imprisoned and why, have you given any thought to the fact that ordinary French people, responsible for the fall of the Bastille, did so even though the imprisoned were largely drawn from the upper echelons, something which could smack of the hold that richer and/or more powerful people had over the ordinary French man on the street? It could be said that the plebs were wound up by more powerful people and families who would have been unlikely to take the same action to protect the poorer members of society.

Perhaps we ought to be glad that the ordinary Briton did not fall into such a trap and plainly just got on with his own life. Why should he take action on behalf of a small elite who would not have lifted a finger to help should it have been the other way around?

It’s just another way of looking at the situation.

i seem to recall that there was an expanse of sand (a beach) at the tower..possibly 70 ish years ago... is it still there?

So something beautiful will come out of the horrors of the past. I am sure it will give pleasure to many people and rollo doesn't need to go and see it.

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 16 Feb 2022 15:03

Anyone with connections with the Tower or the Royal Fusiliers would no doubt argue with Rollo.

Isn't he inciting riots?

Pulling a structure down doesn’t rewrite history. What happened at the Tower (or the Basille) happened and I am glad to see something beautiful about to take place there now.

That was then, this is now Rollo......I think it is a brilliant idea :-). From all accounts, it will be fit for a queen :-D

It sounds delightful, Maddie. What a wonderful sight it will be - and, I hope, a fragrant one too.

I may have to content myself with viewing it online or on telly but I am sure that my granddaughter and her partner will go to see the real thing as they live near enough to to that.

Sounds wonderful.
This just might entice me back onto a train to go and see the flowers.

I loved visiting to view all the poppies.
