	Just back from watching the beacon lit down on The Channel coast. A piper preceded the event followed by a bugler then there was the lighting and cheers from the crowd. We could see the harbour lights of the French ports across the sea and as the sky darkened, the glow from the next 2 beacons along the coast from us could be seen. Rounded off a special day. :-D

	I hadn’t realised that the beacon outside the palace was the ‘tree’ I thought was the antennae for all of the broadcasting companies. The supposed candles look like the things on the telegraph poles which is why I associated them with sending signals. :-S
