We are on 'savouries' as our contribution to the garden party family tea organised by elder daughter.
Vol-au-vent cases ready to be filled and sausage rolls to be made this morning.

Another day of beautiful sunshine in the far south east.

Hope it stays dry as forecast, as there are several Jubilee tea parties round and about.

Yes, I rather wanted to go to the lighting of the beacon, as I remembered we went to a coastal one. in 2012.
I recorded the lighting of 'the tree' so watched that when we got home.

I have just excelled myself! I haven’t baked for ages but this am I have baked two recipes - one lot of gluten-free cheese scones for OH and a microwaved pineapple ring upside down cake for Dtr as she is a bit unwell at the moment and recently she has said how she loved that cake when I baked it when she was a girl.

The scones were cobbled together substituting xanthan gum with egg and a touch of vinegar and using bread flour as that is all OH had. They are fine as we’ve just had one each with our coffee.

Not sure about the pineapple ring cake as I had lost the recipe and when I made it years ago I had a Toshiba combi microwave oven and now I have a cheap microwave oven, it’s just pinged and it looks OK but the proof of the pudding is in the eating so I’ll take it across in a little while and await J’s verdict. If she doesn’t like it I’ll blame her as I gave her my food mixer a while ago as I used it so rarely.

I am no longer a follow-the-recipe-to-the-letter cook as I don’t particularly enjoy cooking so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

We have a big fair and live band on one of our local commons today…thank goodness it has dried up since mid morning :-D :-D
