I've been watching the service at the Cenotaph too. I thought Kate looked better today. I thought she didn't look too well at the Royal Albert Hall ceremony on TV last night.

Bob always watched the Cenotaph service and always said he would like Elgar's Nimrod played at his funeral. I'm not too keen on it but it is what he wanted so that's what we had as people were coming into the crematorium chapel.

My girls and I joined many others gathered at the town war memorial for a service of remembrance.
Only 2 national anthems today, our own and the French one, as people always attend from our twin town in France ( down here not far from the Channel, we are nearer to France than to London)
So good to see so many young people in their various organisations attending and looking very smart too.
Children from one of the primary schools read out the names from the war memorial, as all the wreaths are placed.

Fairly mild, with just a few spots of rain, but it didn't come to anything.

We have stood there in cold,heavy rain some years, but I always say that is not much to ask of us, compared to what was done for our freedom. <3

I too watched the Cenotaph this morning...some of the stories they tell do make you cry <3

I always remember my Great Uncle Harold he was killed in France in WW1 a few days after his 22nd birthday.... his sister named her house, Lieven, in memory of the place he was killed. <3

When researching my maternal side, I found that an ancestor born on Prince Edward Island, Canada also died at Lieven a day before my Great Uncle.....what a small world :-0 <3
