Did anyone read an article on happy dogs.

It seems that uni towns Cambridge, Durham and Bristol ranked worse for dogs while Plymouth and Liverpool were ‘deemed the best’.

The mind boggles :-S

Island

Island Report 23 Nov 2025 10:16

Morning Joy and late arrivals :-D :-D

Uni towns? I didn't know students had the time, inclination or dosh to keep dogs :-S

Reading back last nights thread..... Although it's been a long time, I must be the only person who has never had fish from the chip shop :-D ever. Finding mushy pea 'cakes' (or what ever they were called) in H'west was a real treat.

Thanks for the Snoopy's Maddie - you got my email ok then? :-S

Brighter but cold here :-(

Island I found your email on one concerning Ann <3

I sent separate emails with photos to you and Kath, as I did not know if either of you wanted your address shared.

Hopefully I shall be able to get out again this week with my little pal Brownie :-D ;-)

Keep warm everyone <3

Evening everyone :-) <3

Not a good start to the day :-|
I made an early morning cuppa and thought I'd renew the water in my hot water bottle and watch a recorded programme.
I got wet!
It sprung a leak and I had to quickly strip off my pyjamas :-0 :-0
All this before 7.30.
Bottle now in the bin together with another one that looked a bit old.
Maddie has warned us :-)

Yesterday was dry, but with a bitter raw wind.
Today has been wild, whistling and wet...outdoors and in ;-)
It's a bit calmer now and about a heady 7 degrees.

Von

Von Report 23 Nov 2025 17:20

Oh dear Gwyn. Hope you have recovered now. <3

The hot water bottles do have a date on them somewhere which I believe is the

manufacturing date and should only be used for 2 years. I think thats right but don’t quote me ;-) ;-)

Joy I found that article but to be honest couldn’t make head nor tail of it. :-0 :-0 ;-) ;-)

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 23 Nov 2025 17:27

Good one, Von. :-D :-D :-D

MotownGal

There is a 'flower' on the neck of a hot water bottle.

The number in the middle is the year of production, and the number on the 'petal' is the month.

I always sling my bottles out after a year, as I have had a bottle leak before. It just isnt worth it! :-0 :-0

Hope you did not get burned Gwyn <3

Nighty Night Everyone <3 <3

I have one of those microwaveable wheat packs, Gwyn.

The heat probably does not last as long as a hot water bottle but long enough for you to get cosy in bed. They are also good for arthritic bones.

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 23 Nov 2025 18:32

I'm OK Thank you <3
Leg was a bit pink, but not blistered or sore, as I leapt up quickly, once I realised what had happened.

Could have been worse.
I'd had the bottle with me all night and it was only after I'd got up this morning that it leaked.
At least all the bed didn't get wet.

I've got a heated over blanket to snuggle under, if I need it, so I'll give the bottles a miss for a while.
