I think there may e some on the boards, pretty certain somebody was on the other craft thread talking cross stitch.

I have done a couple of pictures which are framed and daughter has done a lot, some beautiful ones. I find it too much of a strain on my eyes now sadly so switched to card making and scrap booking.

Hi All

I've been doing cross stitch for about 10 years now and some days it's the only way to stay sane!

I've done some lovely things and there just isn't enough time to do everything I want....

For anyone interested, why not visit the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace during 10th-13th October - absolutely wonderful day out and great for all sorts of creative stuff!! So good that I'm driving down from Suffolk just for the day!!

Last year I had a mini meetup with 2 lovely GR members - anyone fancy it again?

AnninGlos - you can get a clip on magnifier that would help with stitching - I use mine all the time.

I will have to consult my technical adviser (son) on that as I'm not very good at computer stuff etc. All seems a bit complicated and that makes me nervous!

As he's on honeymoon at the moment I think I'll have to wait a bit......

Hi Claire

Is your hallowe'en cross stitch ready to hang this year?

I don't think I'll make the Knit and Stitch this year as I lurve my new home to much to leave it on it's own for too long at the moment, :-)

Hi, littlelegs, I enjoy cross stich, and seem to have a drawer full of half and nearly finished projects. My best is a framed picture of a poppy field. I recently tried blackwork as a variation, and find this quite satisfying, as the stitches are so varied. :-)

Geordie, my drawers are full of finished projects! I recently promised myself I would only do practical ones, like cushions as I don't have room to hang framed ones (well, actually, I do, but I hate having to dust them!)

I have just finished a runner, only the hem to do and I will start that tonight if I can bring myself to put the ironing board up to press it. There was quite a lot of metallic embroidery - ugh! So difficult to do as the threads kept coming out of the needle.

A friend brought back a kit from China and the lady in the shop had marked out a 10 x 10 grid on the fabric in red. She promised it would wash out - fingers crossed! The material edges had been zig-zag stitched - wonderful, no messing about with masking tape.

I love any sort of counted thread embroidery - Hardanger, blackwork, canvas work, especially using lots of different stitches.

Island, my first halloween stitch was finished and made into a cushion last year, already for spooks night! I backed it with some spider themed printed cotton and edged it with black frilly knicker lace - looks so nice I haven't put it away!!

I've still got the hanger one to do that is even better but probably won't get time this year as I am still trying to finish the sampler thingy for my son's wedding.

Glad you have settled into your new home and hope you are getting the veggie plot organised. I know what you mean about leaving home - I really don't like leaving Suffolk any more unless it involves serious fun!!

Amokavid - cross stitching a family tree sounds a lovely idea, and one that you could keep going back and adding to.
Definitely one to think about trying. :-)

I am doing a Mr Men and Little Misses sampler at the moment. Quite a simple design but I am really enjoying it. The kit is from Bothy Threads and I really like the thread organiser. This is probably the first time I haven't ended up with jumble of threads. The organiser has a notch at the top that the threads loop round and a slot at the bottom to hold them in place. Will certainly keep it to reuse on other projects.
