We need surnames and dates. Did he marry your mum?

Penny Report 13 Apr 2012 04:53

Do you have your own birth cert? Is he named on it?

If you dont, surely this is the place to check first

ANGEL Report 13 Apr 2012 08:22

Thats the thing I have my birth cert but hes not named on it and my mum never married him and I also dont have his second name :/ so this is going to be very difficult for me to find then xx

Do you know the name of the business he owned? Any business partners he may have had?, if you had the name of the business there may be tracing agencies that can help you somehow.

Jacqueline Report 13 Apr 2012 17:42

Do you know rough ages of Graham and Hayley his sister and Hayley daughter?

Regards Jackie

Did he live with your mum? He might show in old electoral rolls.

ANGEL Report 13 Apr 2012 22:20

Hi everyone thank you all for so much help so far last night when i signed up i thought it may just be another waste of my money but so far you have all given me some hope :) I dont know the name but im sure it was to do with cars macanical buisness he is roughly the same age as my mum about 42 and hayley his daughter was a few years older than me so shes roughly 23/24 i think. ErikaH Report 13 Apr 2012 22:41

Does he know that you exist?

ANGEL Report 13 Apr 2012 22:51

Or it might be Latchmere court he lived at and Yes he does my nan said he was there untill i was about 1 or two as he took us all on a family holiday but my mum just pushed him away and drove him to leave and trust me she done that to every one of our fathers and theres 5 of us with different dads :/ but my nan said he was a lovely man with a heart of gold he just got really depressed from the trouble my mum put him through. i just want to get a chance to meet him and my other family as all my other brothers and sisters know theirs or has met theirs and im the only one left wondering xx

ANGEL Report 13 Apr 2012 22:57

Oh and I also know my mum met him through a dating section in the loot paper as my aunt and her was doing it as a joke then they ened up meeting so that might help The Loot possibly in 1993 xx

There's no Latchmere/Lambert Court in Battersea. Options are Latchmere Road, Street or Passage.

Are you able to visit Battersea Library? Perhaps you could view old electoral rolls for those streets to find his name.

Who's giving you this street address? Your nan?

Sean Report 14 Apr 2012 01:29

hi angel

could you not ask your nan or aunt for help about information on his last name?

MikeSW11 Report 14 Apr 2012 07:51

Hi Angel, you say your Dad lived in Lambert^ Court^ or Latchmere^ Court^ and that he owned the 'house', sorry to be pedantic but to be clear, would that be he owned the 'flat'?

Can your Nan help on any of the following? (often people's memories flow better if they are 'nudged' with possibilities....)

There is a lot of local authority property in Battersea, any idea whether it might have been a flat bought under right-to-buy in a local authority block? High rise block or not? Near major local landmarks? (the river, Clapham Junction station)? Did your Dad walk to work from your Mum's? (would suggest his work premises were unlikely to be more than say a mile from where you lived)

"The Latchmere" is a pub in Battersea, might his address have been [something] Court *near* the Latchmere (as already posted, there is no Latchmere^ Court in Battersea). Was your father a 'pub man', if so, where did he drink? (might be local to where he lived or worked).

Does your Nan know anything about his business location - industrial estate? Main road? Residential street? (small car workshops are sometimes in residential streets). Near a railway bridge, in arches under a railway bridge? (a lot of those in Battersea!). Did your father own a car? Anything special or unusual?

Your Dad's daughter Hayley would have been just school age when your Dad left, any idea where she started school?

Where was the family holiday that your Dad took you on? Any chance of identifying the hotel, guest house, caravan park or whatever and tracing the booking?

^ Edited to add: Most blocks of flats named "[something] Court" in Battersea are ex-local authority blocks. Could it be Lucas Court? Or a block in Chatfield (sounds like "Latchmere") Road - Sherwood Court, Mendip Court?

ANGEL Report 14 Apr 2012 09:44

Im sure its deffinatly latchmere as my nan and older sister has said that it might not be court though, my nan cant really remember much about him because my mum never really brought him round apparently my nan only met him a good few times, he took them in a caravan he owned to haven when i was about 1, Hayley my sister i dont know alot about just that I looked alot like her, I was up till 3am googleing the names and addresses and then facebooking names and addresses I just dont have enough information that I just doubt i will be able to find them its starting to become inpossible, my nan has lived in the same area for yeas now and if he wanted to know where i am he could surely go back to my nans I just sadens me to know that im having to do all the work without much help from my family!!! -_- thanks alot guys for your help im going to keep looking and hopefully something will come up!! :) xxx Angel xx

PM sent, no new information or leads in it

Rambling Report 14 Apr 2012 12:29

You could try phoning or visiting the garages/car repairs in the area, and ask if anyone remembers him working for them? If there's one there that might be a family business it may be worth a try? Here's one

97 Latchmere Road
SW11 2DR
Telephone: 020 7228 3907

MikeSW11 Report 14 Apr 2012 12:32

Those premises (97 Latchmere Road) have recently been demolished and a block of flats is being erected there.

I don't know if the business has relocated.
