Yes I know what you mean, it's very hard to trace someone with not much information to go on. Thanks for looking for me and I will continue to try and find out a bit more if I can. I hope you get some news on your grandfather :-)

Not easy, have you tried to find relatives from the Drake side to see if they know anything. Sheila

Jennifer Report 19 Nov 2012 18:25

How would I go about finding that information if that is the case?

patchem Report 19 Nov 2012 18:19

Unfortunately (or not) no-one's death showing for that exact date of birth as Frederick or James or Frederick James.
So he either died before the 1970's, or died after 2005, or is still alive, or the person registering his death got his birth date wrong.

Thanks Sheila for taking the time to help me, that all sounds about right, only I just can't find any records about Frederick, I don't know if he married or anything so it's hard to trace where if still alive or if he died, I do appreciate you helping me.

patchem Report 12 Nov 2012 20:15

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 12 Nov 2012 19:32

As far as they know Frederick went missing in late 40s early 50s he was a ganger on the railways at the time, we don't know his DOB, there is no death record for him I'm told, so maybe he moved abroad or we just are not looking in the right place. We don't know if he married or had children.

I've just contacted customer support as I can't message any one to view their family tree, in which there is a Frederick James Harris, with tree owner Sandra cox, am waiting for a response as to why I can't message her, I'm also trying to find out from other family members his DOB and where they lived

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 12 Nov 2012 12:09

You haven't answered the question about WHEN the siblings were last in contact.........also, please say where was he living at the time.

What was his exact DOB?

What 'trouble' are you having sending a message to a tree owner?

You just click on 'find out more' and the message box opens............then, having composed your message, you click 'send'

Jennifer Report 11 Nov 2012 13:30

Yes this is my grandfather, and yes daisy was born 1930 , Frederick was another brother. Yes I've seen that there is another tree with Frederick but I'm having trouble sending a message for some reason, thanks for your help I really appreciate it.

Presumably this is your grandfather, who was born Islington:
Births Dec 1919
Harris Ernest S Drake Islington 1b 500
But the siblings are spread about
Was Daisy born in 1930?
Have you looked on here to see if anyone has Frederick in their tree?

Added:
Someone has Frederick James born 1923 Lambeth in their tree on here - if you thought Islington, someone else can think Lambeth? (Wrong side of river, but worth an email).

Births Jun 1923
Harris Frederick J Drake Hackney 1b 800

But thats the problem the death above COULD be him and if he was in a home he could have been registered by a "home" member whom thought there was no family

did he marry?
have any children ?
move area?

Even a missing person could possible be found if he married when its registered but not if he changed his name

Its also unlikely BUT possinle that a gent of that age has a computer so marriage may be the only way to trace his possible whereabouts

My husbands grandfather died many years ago, Frederick was his grandfathers brother, there is still a brother Dennis and a sister daisy still alive, they lost contact with Frederick years ago, I don't know the whole story as to why they lost contact, but we are trying to find out what ever happend to him.
