Hi medard,

Well we should now start thinking again on this one. I think Rose is right, we have to go back to your mother.

""Seeing as you don't know his name and you don't list your details, you're better off listing your mother's details- birth, mariage, death, location, etc.

That's what he would be Googling for if he started looking for family.""

This is good thinking and makes a lot of sense.
So just to go over info. we have names Ashley, Edwards, Morris-Smith; we have approx. years. Where do you get the 1941/2/3 years from. I am guessing you have been told this. Would the birth been in Glous? Where do you think; where were you born. All helps to narrow things down a bit.

If you had the slightest idea of a first name - any family members around that can help there?

I guess there has not been anyone come forward from the school.

Still no reply from Jersey . I did write to the now B&B Ravenhurst House sadly they have no records from that time only BEFORE 1920 and AFTER 1970 . So another brick wall.

Hi Lynski,

That had me baffled so I just deleted my comments - not terribly relevant only waiting to hear what the reply from Jersey might say.

Hi medard,

Do I take it that this thread has been answered from the above? I did realise that Ravenhurst School was in Glos, but I took a quick look on Friendsreunited to see if anyone from that school had made any connection. The only school with that name was the one in Leicester as I said. Sorry if I confused the issue.

Have you found what you have been searching for?

Hi have just found this on Ancestry 24

GOVERNMENT GAZETTES
Government Gazette No. 30783 - 22 Feb 2008

Legal Records: Notices to Creditors in Deceased Estates

Barraclough Hugh Nicholas

This looks like his date of death.

This would have been a connection.

Hi medard,

I had a thought about the SA connection too. I am also wondering due to the name if Diana maybe 'adopted' him legally or otherwise. She may just have cared for him or taken him under her wing and he in turn looked after her.

Just to keep you informed. Rose is not referring to this thread with her comments. It is referring to her Research. You will see the names of the people I am researching after I add this to the thread. Hope you understand. It is Rose's humour.

I am trying to keep to who you are seeking and how you can reach your goal. Do you have any idea at all of your sibling's name who attended the school.

If he (Hugh) is a British Citizen then they should have his record somewhere although it is 2008 may still be a bit 'soon'.

Don't give up - we will get there.

I have I think found the above Hugh N Barraclough on genes and sent a message - no reply as yet. -reg sep 1933
I also think you may be right and that Hugh died in SA . I'll still write to the Jersey address and see what happens. If it is him and he found the registaration books re the nursery I expect he would have thrown them out , So it appears another dead end.
I cant actually find the site on google except the front page that says he's a British citizen b, May 1933 d. 2008. SA.
So I'll have re think everything
Thanks for all your help

Medard,

He only shows on electoral roll up until 2002. If you Google his name it looks as though Hugh died in South Africa.

Name Hugh N Barraclough
Year of Registration 1933

There does not appear any connection, if Diana never married.

Good morning from Christchurch, NZ,

Well done on this - seems to be the way to go for leads.

I think you may find JerseyLily will come in here. She's great on this if she is not on holiday.

Will wait to see; if not I think I might have a site to offer which came from her, but will need to look back at my Jersey connections.

Happy 2013 seems to be on the cards.

Hi All
I have at last received the death cerificate of Diana Burmester - it seems she did have a son! living in Jersey in 1995 - a different surname Hugh Nicholas Barraclough but it says son - so I'll write to the Jersey address and see if I can find him. Thanks
