I am a relative of Henry Ernle Drake from his son Henry. I am the son of Henry jnrs daughter Clara and her son Bertram.

Did you know that Henry Ernle a Drake was one of the coastguard who lived with his family on Watch Vessel number 7 in Paglesham, Essex? The ship was previously known as HMS Beagle. The vessel which carried Darwin on the voyage to the Galapagos.

Yes, see I wondered if the name was Emile or Ernle seeing as sons were usually named after their fathers and have come accross many spelling mistakes since researching!

I have Henry on the 1851 census yes. I mis typed his date of death as you can see! ;-)

I think this is the basis for believing it to be Ernle, but if Henry's second name is Emile then I would say so is his father....
