BMD will be held on http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/welcome.aspx which is a pay to view site.

His marriage, death, the birth of his children and their subsequent marriages should be on there. If a vital event was less than 50 years ago, you'd have to order a copy. Earlier ones can be downloaded for a fee.

In the meantime, 'search all members trees' to see if anyone else has the family listed and send a message
