Looking for my Nephew Clifford Beard. With his wife and daughter he came to Australia and we were able to meet up with the family. We lost contact over time so I don't know whether he went back to England. He was my eldest brother's only child. He would be possibly in his late 50s or early 60s.

Firstly it might be an idea to edit your first post and the title to include
"Aus or UK?"
That will attract Australian specialists.

Where was he living in Australia, or was he on holiday? Have you checked the on-line phone books?

Can you remember roughly where he was born so that we can see if he a middle initial. How about the name of his wife?

There are 3 Clifford Beard births, all with middle initials for 1960 +/- 10 years.

1951 in Hendon reg district
1951 in Battersea reg district
1957 in Stratford on Avon district

So which one is the most likely??

Thanks for the quick replies. Clifford was born in Battersea and it could be in 1951. Yes I am living in Australia. They use to live in Dapto New South Wales about mid 1970s. When they first came here. Wife was Anna , daughter Vanessa. Could of had another child. My brother died back in 1979 no doubt Clifford's mother Dorothy may not be with us now.

So his name with initials is

Clifford C J Beard - 1951 - mmn Peters

Anna's married name with initials
Anna M Beard (married in 1974)

There are 2 entries on http://www.whitepages.com.au/ in NSW for a C J Beard, ( not C C J Beard).

All that you Reggie and DetEcTive found out is correct. I have been wanting to search for my nephew and family for ages but never knew where to start, so many thanks. As I am not sure if they went back to the Uk or not as Anna was very homesick back then I will definitely look at the White pages. Fabulous work!

He and his wife show on the 1980 electoral roll. Her name is spelt Anne though.

I actually had contact with Kevin Butler, his son-in-law is a direct family member. I have just asked him for a tree viewing so no doubt he will let me.

What I am really looking for is where is Clifford now!! I have a few leads from G.R members so what I need to do is find out whether 1. Anna is still his wife. 2. Did they go back to the U.k or if they divorced did Clifford come back to Australia
as I know he loves the country. Perhaps she stayed in the U.K. Do hope that they stayed together all the same.

That's the Australian. It's on Ancestry.com but it only goes until 1980.

So sorry, should not of mentioned leads from GR members I incorrectly added that before realising that the leads I have had are only from the members above and putting what I did has confused things. I have been with G.R since 2004 and should know better.

Vanessa A Beard was born in 1976. Can't see a UK marriage

There is a person of that name on the 2013 UK ER which will be sent by PM. As there is no guarentee it is the same person, any correspondence should be couched accordingly.

Vanessa added her name to this site a while ago. Look at Search All Member Trees.

Have made contact with Vanessa on this website like you suggested. She is the daughter of my nephew Clifford, hooray! It seems that Vanessa, her mother and there was a baby brother named after his dad all went back to the UK in about 1981 and stayed. My nephew stayed on here which seems very sad because they split up. Clifford's mother Dorris apparently came to Australia to be with her only son. They were living over in Queensland where she died about 20 years ago. I live in Western Australia so was unaware of all this until now. The last contact Vanessa had with her father was when she was 18 that was about 19 to 20 years ago. She says she will post me some photos which I look forward to.
My next task is to find Clifford here perhaps in Queensland so I had a look at the Queensland White Pages but no Clifford C.J Beard, perhaps the Salvation Army might be the next to contact.
