Hi All

Thats very interesting about the birth certificate

My friend is adopted and we tried to get her certificate and a pop up box came up saying contact GRO

When my friend rang they said she needed to speak to the SS who gave her for adopting !!

She did and was given then certificate

Been saying that all along!

You stand virtually no chance of finding out anything about him, let alone 'him ' until you know the name he was given after adoption.

What address was given on his birth cert?

You cannot find out whether he went to Australia or any other country unless you know what his name is

Hi kempina
Birth certificate was easily obtained at the registry office in Southampton.
I didn't put male born 1947 ..... He was born in 1946
I put all information up on a previous thread and thought using a little less information would make people interested as they may not have as much info, such as knowingly adopted. Also, what do you mean about purchasing and seeing who the informant is? I don't understand. My dad has spoken to Annie's sister, before she passed away but was very evasive and all she told dad was date of birth - date of adoption and name on birth certificate .. May I ask kempina ... What or who is Jk please? Penny .... Roy Hunt 'is' his pre adoption name.
Penny you are right as it Does say adopted on his birth certificate

Hi aussietrish

Not sure but am guessing she must have been as she had no fixed abode but went 'somewhere'
My dad has mentioned 'Hollybrook' which was a children's home though not sure this would be of any help as it was a children's home
Is there any way I can find out if he was actually taken to Australia with his new parents? If so, how would I go about it?
I really do appreciate your help and advice with my search

Would imagine Mandy knows about Anne Louisa.... Kemp..., as she was her Nan who died that's how they know about an adopted child.

There have been a few threads about this one with link mentioned on page one....others have been deleted

Kemp, Sorry you are wrong there- if you know a birth name, you can send for a birth cert - it will say ='adopted' on the end- its still there in the indexes, anyone can order!

I don't think ( might be wrong) that Poster has the adoption cert - if she did have , she'd know his post adoption name- which she doesn't.

The sally army wont look for adoptees, and don't actually know how they could without knowing what his 'now' name is.

KempinaPartyhat Report 27 Dec 2013 17:45

Also I would get her birth cert and trace her parents and possible siblings and their children in case she has any nephews and neices to ask if they know of his where abouts

failing that theres always JK

have you tried the salvation army in england
And some children as many as 100,000 were taken to australia by the local authorities WITHOUT the parents concent and often dont know they are NOT with family

Its all very well you shouting at Reggie but sadly hes right and guess what I,m not on his side

Please try to help us so we can help you .....man born 1947 and is adopted isnt really enough

Penny

Penny Report 27 Dec 2013 03:28

If you had his original birth certificate it would tell you where he was born- then you would know where she was taken( or went) to have him

Hi
He wasnt put into home i know that much. When he was born he was put with a family that went on to adopt him
And Apologies to All if i came across a bit 'sharp' - it wasnt an attitude i was displaying it was my attempt of protecting myself as when i first joined my Newsfeed was used as a 'playground' battlefield ... sorry
There was a place where young mothers to be were put to have babiesbut not sure if she was taken there. I know that she had the baby and it was taken fom her as she had no address

Sorry Reggie, I don't mean to be offensive, but when I see your name on a help line, I just know it will be a moan. Perhaps I have you all wrong and it's just
the way you word things, if that
is so, then I apologise.

Just thought........ did Annie get put in a mother and baby home; could be another avanue of search.

If he is in Australia /Canada etc he will have no problems accessing his files.

jax Report 24 Dec 2013 14:38

As I said in my earlier post, if he knows his birth name he would easily find your posts looking for him on the various sites

Strangely enough this one isn't showing.....maybe because his name isn't in the title?

As he was born just after the war, there is also a chance his adoptive parents decided to take up the £10 pom deal and emigrated. Although he could still get a copy of his file, how easy would that be from Australia??

Of course you want to find him....but that doesn't mean he wants to find you

You, too, Eileen, seem unable to differentiate between negative and realistic (or practical)

Have you done anything to try to help Mandy? I would think that an honest response would have to be 'No'

Being 'on her side' is of little practical use..............

I know you are having a 'dig' at me................but at least you are leaving others alone - at the moment

If Mandy's father is - as seems to be the case, from what Mandy has written - unwilling to take the step of adding himself to the register, he must have a reason, which Mandy should respect.

Trying to push him may have a totally NEGATIVE effect

Eileen

Eileen Report 24 Dec 2013 13:53

Mandy, I do know what you mean. I have noticed that it is always the same person who gives negative messages. I'm sure you know what I mean. I'm on your side. Hope you find your uncle. <3 <3 <3

ErikaH Report 24 Dec 2013 12:12

I don't in any way understand what your perceived grievance is....................the 'attitude' appears to be all on your side

Where is the 'sarcasm'?

Where are the 'cat fights'?

And you need to learn how distinguish between realism and negativity
