If you search for Anita Maureen in the Australian electoral rolls there's an
Anita Maureen Hutcheson in Kalgoorlie in 1977.

2002 was not so very long ago.
One would have thought that they would have records logged, even if they were not to hand.
I wonder if it's worth another request?

Hi all
I have been thinking most of the night about the best route to take regarding tracing Anita ... My first issue is that I am not sure she is actually in Australia ... I only know her parents were. Secondly ... Much as it's a hard task I think I need to follow up on Stella's side as I know they are uk ... So Stella had a daughter Carol A Hedges who married into the dreaded Jones's !!! So Anita's cousin is Carol A Jones. I realise it's a huge task but is there anywhere I can get a list of Carol A Jones's living in the uk?
I believe she had 2 children but have no details.
Also is there a site that has old Australian White pages circa 1999 to 2002? I am trying to find Alan and Noras last residence in Australia so I can try to place an ad in the local paper of the town where they last lived.
Any ideas or comments greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Each Australian State (if that is the correct term) has an archive service called 'ask a Librarian'. If you make an Internet search with those terms plus the appropriate state, you should get a result.

Not only should they have old phone books, they might be willing to look up the historical ER for the deceased couple. Its unlikely that they'd look up current ER due to their privacy laws. There's no harm in asking though! :-D

Detective thanks for that !!!
I shall get on the case ... In your opinion is the way I am proceeding the right course ? As I say I am not experienced but trying to look at things logically.
Any other comments or ideas are always more than welcome :-D

192.com is a pay to view site for UK electoral rolls 2002 - 2014. Although the electorate will be listed for 2002, from then on there has been the option to opt out of the commercial listings.

Are you absolutely sure who Stella (edit Carol) married? You could always buy the MC to check the details. You should be able to find the names of the children on the gro index. Search for Jones/Hedges births in an appropriate time period. If Stella is roughly the same age as Anita, they may not be on freebmd. Although that is not complete, they only intend to go up to 1983. Subscription sites - GR, Findmypast or Ancestry should have later ones.

No stone should be left unturned, and you do need to think laterally as well as logically. Unless you ask the question, you won't get an answer. :-D

If you can find out your grandparents last address, you could send a letter there hoping that the new occupiers will ask the neighbours about them. If it turns out to be owner/ occupied, they might be willing to give you details of their legal representative then through that organisation, the vendors.

Should it be care home, the management might be willing to pass on a message to their next of kin.

There's a lot of 'mights' but you do need to explore all options.

Even though you obviously want to find Anita, try not to let it take over your life. <3

Hi Detective
Many thanks for your help ... very much appreciated ... I do think its crucial to find the last address of my grandparents. I shall head down the lines you have mentioned ...
Also very wise words regarding my search for Anita ... I can be a bit like a dog with a bone at times (this has helped me in my search to date ironically) but I do know what you mean regarding letting it take over my life ... I also have a family of my own and my father passed away recently ... I guess this has highlighted to me that life is too short. As Anita is 66 now I feel some pressure to try and connect with her before it is too late .... it may already be ... but I would be greatly saddened if I did finally trace her only to find she passed away some months previously ... I would be asking myself what could have been if I had tried harder. That said a life spent searching with no regard to living would be a wasted life. I need to try and strike a balance for sure.
Kind regards my friend and I shall keep you updated.
Cheers

Hi all
Just an update ... I have spoken with Ken (Anitas husband from 1968 - mid 70s).
He was a really nice gentleman and did confirm that Anita emigrated to Western Australia in the mid 70s ... She was looking to remarry and raise a family. So the search is definitely on for Australia. Ken mentioned that a place called Rockville came to mind but was not sure. They did divorce in the Mid 70s so its odd that I can not find a record of that. Any ideas why its not on file ?
Cheers

This link will give you details about what's around for Divorces.

TBH, now that you know that they were divorced, there is no reason to seek further details or the date

There are a few with the surname Lenson in Perth on Facebook

They maybe related along the line?

Might be worth a message to see if she is known to them

Infact one says he is from Kalgoorie and now lives in Perth

If you do message him it may not be a good idea to say who you are though, incase he is her son and doesn't know about you

Hi all
Just an update .... I did indeed manage to trace my Mother to Australia. I FOUND ANITA !!!!!! We first talked on the phone last Sunday it was incredibly emotional ... She had been searching for me too ... she came to the UK for 6 weeks in 1996 but couldn't trace me as she did not know what my adopted name was. I have 2 amazing Sisters who have been brought up in the knowledge that I was out there somewhere. They even celebrated my birthdays !!
I have now spoken with both my sisters who are just lovely and have welcomed me into their family with open arms. I also have an adorable Niece and nephew. I have spoken with Mum every day since and ... wait for it .... I am going to Perth at the end of this month for 3 weeks to meet everyone.
I have been sent LOADS of pictures and been in constant email contact with my new family.
I just wanted to thank this community Patchem, Kath, Kay, Detective, Jax, Autumn Leaves, Reggie, Zoe F, Click Gwyn and littlelegs for all the support shown, the ideas and their hard work on my behalf. I could not have done it without you guys n girls you have changed lives !!!
Now starts a new chapter <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
All the best Everyone
Your friend
Karl ... (And family)
