My poor poor Granny! It is as I feared. The cards were stacked against her from the start. I have this strong urge to protect her - but of course I can't. Perhaps old Sammy did his best for her in a way. Thanks again.

Thank you. You are working very hard on my behalf.
What sad lives in those days. My granny was a lovely little Granny too.
I knew she'd had a hard life but am beginning to see just how hard it really was.

1911 census of family less Emily, unless tracking sisters marriages throws up a Blease/Forster marriage I'd send for John Frederick Forster's birth cert.

Yes - I can see how that happened.

patchem

patchem Report 5 Aug 2014 21:53

It has been mis-transcribed.

The transcribers guessed his name was John B Case, but it is actually John Blease (or is recognisable as such if you know what you are looking for).

Ann

Ann Report 5 Aug 2014 21:08

The mystery deepens. Excuse my total ignorance but why is the name shown as Case?

Thanks again.

Thanks again. I had found this census record but cannot find Emily in 1911.
She was only married in the final quarter and I think the census was in the first quarter. I have the marriage ref number and will send for a copy. I thought I had found her in the 1901 Census, but she was listed as daughter of George and Martha Blease??? Think my poor granny didn't have a good start in life.

Thank you all for your help. Must admit I'm not too good at this.

Emily was born in Northwich in1888 - and told me she was "in service" before marriage. She had a sister or sister in law Annie - who had two daughters, Lillian and Edith They all lived in the Middlewich and Northwich area.

Thanks
Annie
