No there isn't a marriage for these surnames at all. I think they married in Scotland, as I checked on the surname of Morritt, and it is Scottish

Thank you very much Jacqueline

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 22 Jan 2015 13:50

There wasn't one between those surnames - and even if there had been, it would have been much later than the 1920's

I checked freebmd yesterday

I'll bookmark this and look out for when you post info from the marriage cert

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 15:44

I am searching ancestry for the surname only of charnock and morritt marriages, around late 1920's

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 15:39

Yes it certainly is.
Yes, sometimes pm works and sometimes it doesn't.

I am going to order marriage certificate it today, although it can take over a week to arrive can't it.

Yes that's a point. She seemed very sure the maiden name wasn't what we had. I could do with talking to her again. Yes she is quite distant and she said it was a very long time ago. This is where I am very careful when I talk to her about the past.

I will keep searching too

Jacqueline you really are very kind to help with all of this Research. Thank you so much for everything you are doing, hope I am not taking up your time

Janet's father's name is the link we need.

I've tried to reply to your PM's, but it's up the creek again.

Of course, the marriage cert will be the most helpful thing.

When you are able to get it, come back with the details from it, and we'll try to go from there.

As Janet was not connected with the Almonds, I wonder whether she would actually know anything about Leonard's mother's maiden name. She's a bit 'distant' to be expected to be aware of that sort of detail........

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 15:06

The cousin can't remember when or where Ethel's parents were born,

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 15:02

I sent you a message Jacqueline.
Also I asked the cousin if she knew which one of the Leonard Almond birth's could be right, and when I gave her both Mother's maiden names of these records she said neither Ward or Sailsbury was his Mother

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 14:19

I am calling the cousin in a minute, will reply to you after Jacqueline

Many thanks to you

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 14:17

Thank you so much for finding the cousin's birth and for the other information
Yes I will certainly ask Janet her Father's name and birthplace.

There is confusion you are right

Thank you

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 14:12

I am afraid I don't know the first name of the cousin's father, but I am asking her today. I have been concentrating so much on looking at Electoral Rolls and Care homes and death records for Ethel, that now I need to do this tree, to find any relatives

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 21 Jan 2015 14:11

I've replied to your PM.

There seems to be quite a bit of confusion about births and their registrations.....!

When you speak to Janet, ask her for her father's name and birth year/birthplace.

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 14:08

Yes, I totally agree with you about getting the marriage certificate, It has to be the only way to find out for certain

Oh thank you very much again for finding this information on Leonard Almond, this is really helpful too. You have given me so much information and I really am so grateful Jacqueline for using your time to help me.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 21 Jan 2015 14:03

To make accurate progress, you will probably have to get a copy of the Almond/Charnock marriage cert

The info I posted about Leonard could be the wrong one.

This is the 1907 birth showing MMN

Lancashire Birth indexes for the years: 1907

and here he is in 1911

What was the first name of the cousin's father? (Charnock) and when was he born?

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 14:02

Jacqueline
My message has now been sent to you

I am going to contact this cousin again and ask her a few questions. She may know when Ethel's parent's were born and hopefully a few more things. If I can get back a bit through the tree with the names you have given me, then I can start going forward again and looking for marriages etc. Hopefully eventually I may find some relatives that are living, either from Ethel's Mother's side of family or her Father's side of family

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 13:56

I don't have the details of Ethel's Mother's birth, there are a few possibilities, not certain where she was born really. Thank you, I don't have any information about her really, other than this cousin was quite close to her.
I also found another birth for Leonard Almond, born in 1907 Blackburn.

Very frustrating when you find a few possible birth's, but I have printed out all the information that you found on Leonard Almond.

If I can just get some tree connections on Ancestry to this family Charnock and Almond, then I may find someone who is connected to this family.

You are so helpful to me Jacqueline. Thank you

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 21 Jan 2015 13:29

Do you need info about Ethel's mother?

Or have you got all that you need for her?

PM system is up the creek.......

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 12:22

Jacqueline. This cousin's maiden name is Charnock. Her father was a brother of Ethel Charnock, who was Ethel Edgar's Mother.

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 11:19

Message won't send to you Jacqueline

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 11:08

Jacqueline I will pm you a message telling you the cousins name

Lesley

Lesley Report 21 Jan 2015 11:06

Jacqueline and Rose. I am sure there was a son. As you said the record shows a son born the year after Ethel married. I am going to follow this through even though the cousin says there were no children. I know she saw Ethel and kept in contact until the 1990's, and insists there were no children,

Apparently Ethel's husband Archibold was born in Scotland. Not found a birth
