I have a birth certificate that I have found on line witch is
For a Christopher Robertson born 1942 in Islington
The maiden name is core-clough

How ever are many searches I can't seem to come acrossed a marriage

Only found something for a Raymond core-clough with say the date of birth is 28 May 1959 traveling to New York USA
That's is all I can find ( where did the surname come from ) cheers

Have you tried searching with each part of the surname separately? The listings of double-barrelled names can be difficult.

It's difficult to say how it evolved. Often the wife retains her maiden name by hyphenating it with her husbands. That will be inherited by their children. . I've also seen (and come to think of it, know someone) who has hyphenated their birth fathers surname with that of their stepfather. As they were minors their mother had to get the birth fathers written permission and apply to the family court. In the other instance, the birth father had died.

Yeh I have found a wedding but it was gore-clough
In1936 in kent
So may have been Misspelled in records but will still check thank you

if you look at the 1936 marriage at freebmd and click on the page number

you will see that the bride is also listed as

Edna G Clough

the husband in that marriage was born in 1906 (died 1985 East Sussex)
