Who she hasn't seen for about 30 years And her father was James Alexander Cameron July 1944 who has now passed 2013

But never married

James Alexander Cameron meet Sharon
And had three children
They live in Canada

They all came over for Agnes was (Cunningham ) Cameron funeral 80's and she was married to Alexander John Cameron who he passed 1969

ScotlandsPeople has no record of the birth of a James Alexander Cameron in Edinburgh in 1944. In fact, none 1940-50.

If 1944 is the correct year, then the most likely one I can find is a James Cameron (no middle name) born in Inveresk & Musselburgh district - a few miles outside Edinburgh.

There seem to have been no James Alexander Camerons born anywhere in Scotland in 1944.

it seems very strange that even on his death record that it stats the same information

james alexander Cameron full date of 23rd july 1944 he passed in 2013 aged 68/69
which would have made him 72 now

sue (Susanne ) was born in 64 in Edinburgh

as for Sharon i know she was born and lived in Canada
Sharon came over in the 80's,
we have dates on the passport of where he travelled and where he went
montreal July 19th 1964
Ottawa April 11TH 1969

renewed his passport in 9th September 1973
james was also a soldier for hire he worked with a ian smith in south Africa

James Was living in Canada in the 60's and 70's then went to south Africa After leaving Sharon and the kids
she has flight tickets for south Africa 1981 and returned in 1981 the same year

just a bit more information as she is finding it

It appears that Sue's mother is still living, so Detail (and MargaretM) you must edit the posts in which you gave Janice's date of birth and remove it -- it is not actually relevant here in any case (even the year).



I can't see a birth for Janice at scotlandspeople but there is a marriage after Sue's birth.

Can Sue not get in touch with Janice to ask whether she might know anything about the family in Canada??

This would be a slightly harsh way for the children to learn of his death, but obviously they are not close and it would not likely be devastating.

In the notice Sue could give his birthdate and say when and where he died, and that his daughter would like to contact the three children of James and Sharon in Canada (I would not name them for privacy), last known in Scarborough and last contact at the funeral of their grandmother Agnes Cunningham Cameron, and give an email address (anonymous online email account, something like jamescameronfamily at gmail or whatever name was available there that would work).

The online notices would remain accessible for some years in case someone searched for info about him on line, while the notice in the newspaper would be more likely to catch the eye of a family member or someone who knows the family.

I think since there is really no way to find James's children in Canada, that is about the only thing to do.

Otherwise, Sue could write to every K and I Cameron in the phone book in the Toronto area and hope one would be correct ... but I even wonder whether Sharon might have remarried and the children's surname been changed, given the circumstances.

I Have Taken Off Dates Of Births Of People Still Living, but I am still gonna try and see if i can do a family tree of her family and come back to this so gonna start with her nan and granddad as they raised sue and hopefully I can at least find something for her as they run a sweetie shop and see what i can find out

Certainly working on Sue's family tree is one thing, but if she does want to contact her half-brothers and half-sister in Canada, it would be very easy to do as I suggested and it might bear fruit, if not immediately then perhaps in future.

also, you simply never know when someone who is searched for may do an internet search and find a message at this site, even years later.


is the 'find ancestors' thread you want to post about Sue's grandparents' family? I don't quite understand as I thought she was adopted but you say she lived with her grandparents.

I guess I was thinking of looking for an obituary just in case family in Canada had actually heard of the death and published one, which seemed unlikely ... I had thought earlier about publishing a 'personal' notice in the paper, but nobody reads them anymore ...

I've been asked by someone who is no longer a member but who lives in the Toronto area, to add this extra information ............

"the Toronto Sun would be a waste of money (see JC post at 15:07) there only about 3-4 obits per week vs Toronto Star 3-4 full pages"

we can't tell where that was ... Summit County seems to be in Ohio ... Belmont?

Your James and Sharon would not have had a minor child in 2001 ... they separated in the 1970s ...

James Cameron is an insanely common name, and no doubt quite a few of them in that age range married Sharons :-)
