I may be able to actually give you correct info as I have just done a tree and it well may include this lady and was complicated. I have to ask my friend to get in touch with Deanna . As I now know she is still alive . I know the names of the son born (It is not the same sur name as other daughter. My friend has been in touch with other daughter recently for me. different father again), (if this is the right family and it looks like it) please get in touch

Dorrian had plenty of family (2 sisters and 2/3 brothers) so there may be a few people around that could help:

This is the obituary for Dorrian's father:

Coventry Standard - Saturday 30 November 1940

THE LATE MR J DIX

The funerla took place at Bedworth of Mr Joseph Dix, who for many years had been in business as a dentist in the High Street. He passed away in Coventry and Warwickshire hospital on November 12th, was 49 years of age and leaves a wife and a family of three daughters and three sons.

...The mourners were Mrs J Dix (widow), Mr J Dix (jun) son, and Mrs Dix, Mr and Mrs Sterland (son-in-law and daughter), of Foleshill, Mr and Mrs Wareham (son-in-law and daughter), of Foleshill, Mr Aubrey Dix (son), of the RAF, Miss Olive Dix (daughter), and Master Trevor Dix (son)...
--------------------------------

Another article re the same man said he was a native of Sunderland but had lived in Bedworth area around 25 years. It also says he has TWO sons and three daughters.
----------------------------------------------

I think if you want to follow this family back you may need some certificates.

Joseph (the dentist- father of Dorrian) is on the 1939 register with his wife Polly. I would have assumed her name was Johnson (which fits the maiden name for the births of Dorrian /Dorien and her siblings. However, the only marriage that I can find that fits is this:

Marriages Dec 1912 (>99%)
Dix Joseph Turrell Sunderland 10a 1335
TURRELL Polly J DIX Sunderland 10a 1335

Perhaps the J was for Johnson? I know Polly is often a substitute for Mary Jane.

Dorrian's mother died in 1966- she's listed as Polly Mary Dix :

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar
DIX Polly Mary of 324 Bedworth Road, Longford, Coventry died 7 August 1966 at 14 Earlsdon Ave, South Earlsdon Coventry Probate London 14 October to Lloyds Bank Ltd.

You asked about the obituary in 2015, Jane.

The Deanna who died in 2015 had sisters Val, Christine, and Shirley.
From what Austin has posted above, it looks as if she can't be the right Deanna, unless the sisters were Alan's children - or maybe Dorrian's step-daughters (if any) from one of her later marriages.

If you really want to find out, I suppose the crematorium would pass on a VERY TACTFULLY WORDED letter to the relatives.

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 19 Oct 2016 07:36

If the marriage above was correct for Deanna's parents, then this appears to be the mother in 1939 (she later had the surname Piasecka (she's entered twice which might be to do with the Ambulance duties??):

105 Widdrington Road , Coventry C.B., Warwickshire, England
Dorrian Piasecka (Wareham) 17 Jan 1916 Female Arp Ambulance Driver Unpaid Domestic Duties Married

105 Weddrington Road , Coventry C.B., Warwickshire, England
Dorrian (Dorian Mary) Piasecka,Wateham 17 Jan 1916 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Married
--------------------------------------------

So her mother married again:

First name(s) DORIEN M
Last name DIX
Marriage quarter 2
Marriage year 1943
Spouse: JOSEF PIASECKI
District BRIGHTON
County Sussex
Volume 2B Page 581
-----------------------------------

It looks like two children were born to this marriage in 1943 & 1947 (younger child possibly living in Kent- although her marriages were not under her birth surname)
--------------------------------------------------

Given the date of birth on the 1939 register I wondered if this was Dorien/ Dorrian's death?

First name(s) DORRIAN MAY
Last name MAXTED
Gender Female
Birth day 17
Birth month 1
Birth year 1916
Death quarter 2
Death year 1999
District MAIDSTONE
District number 5691C
Register number C12C
Entry number 295
Date of registration mm/yy 0699
County Kent

Looking again at the 1939 register I think this must be the correct deat as on the register I think I can just see the bottom of the surname Maxted. Unfortunately the date the name was registered is also covered up.

Thank you so much Kay, Rose and Kenneth.

No she doesn't know any of the information you have given me. She really didn't know anything about this lady til I told her about her. She had an idea her Dad had had another child ? sister but didn't know anything for sure til I asked her about her. It was a bit of a shock to her.

Sorry just to clarify Dorrian May had two other children including Deanna. Who were they please. My friend is from Alan Warehams second marriage.

So Could the Deanna Owen ArgylGran be the Deanna we are looking for?

Thanks you all so much for this information. Everyone has been really kind helping me.

I have to go to work now but will check this thread when I get back tonight.

All the best

Jane

Have replied. Choose one set of names when you order the cert as there is only one Birth Certificate. You'll be wasting £9.25 if you use both sets of data.

DetEcTive. I have sent you a message.

I am not sure if that is the correct family for Alan Wareham I will have to ask my friend tonight to confirm it.

Thanks again

Ah - you added earlier that her parents separated. I'd go for Mr Owen being her biological father.
