Travelling first class is housewife Iris M Hoolihan (29), previous address 8 Robson Ave Farnworth Lancs intending to permanently reside in India. With her is Maureen (6) and Padriac S (9). All 3 were born outside UK.

Passenger list was from 1952, ship Cilicia.

Added, I think Iris M Hoolihan re-married in Bahrain in the early 1960s, but don't have the sub to check it out.

She did Flip, married someone called Hallows,so she was either single when she had the children,or this is her 2nd marriage? I've found Padraic married someone called Martyn Nicklin in Maidstone,Kent in 1977,can't see any children born.

Sean Michael Hoolihan is said to still be in the South Cumbria area? Possibly Ulverston?

Flip

Flip Report 13 Sep 2017 11:27

Well she was described as "housewife" on the passenger lists - but listed as not accompanied by husband.

Regarding Sean - have you tried on Facebook?

Flip Report 13 Sep 2017 11:44

Padraic is on the 2002 ER living in Doncaster, along with Marilyn S - if the same one, she has been recorded as registered manager here:

Also at the 2002 address is Wayne P, who would appear to be their son - companies house has him as a director and gives address details. He is still in Doncaster on the 2016 ER.

I would personally never advise phoning initally Paul, even if you find a phone number that is not the way to go especially if it is to someone who may not know the history of the person directly involved...people do not have a chance to make a considered response if a 'cold call' is made,...always write first if it is at all possible, even if that is a message. If you phone it's just as likely to be slammed down as a crank call from someone trying to scam.

Just my opinion of course, but it is based on experience.

That's great news Paul. Hopefully they will be able to fill in the gaps of info and build relationships, a great shame that Maureen has passed though.

Yes a shame he didn't manage to locate Maureen before she died, but good news about the other findings. Hope all goes well for them.

JoonieCloonie Report 21 Sep 2017 23:46

I so hate to be the nag in a happy-ending story ... but there are several posts on the first page with detailed personal info about the births/marriages of people who are for the most part almost certainly living, who are now known not to be connected with this search. The info should not have been posted to start with, and it needs to be deleted now.

I'm happy to hear of the reunion as well, but I do hope that all the people involved don't mind their personal info (names, locations, marriages ...) being posted here (and elsewhere?) as well. Since they likely don't know of it being posted on the internet, maybe some editing is needed there too. And, for instance, there is no need for the name of the daughter of the house-swappee to be posted here in the post above mine. For the privacy of strangers, Paul.

Best wishes.
