Hi,
I am looking for relatives who are related to Herbert Hitchcock born 1922 he has died, not sure of the year, he married Mary Reilly McColgan, in Edinburgh, Mary was born 1921 died 1982, Belper, Derbyshire, they had a son John Hitchcock born 1946 and married a Angela, don't have her surname, they had 2 children Ricky and Samantha. Herbert had a brother Thomas, Herbert and Thomas's parents were Walter Hitchcock and Elizabeth Cockayne all from Debyshire.

Checking on Zoopla, there is no record of the house having been sold.

It looks as though John may have beeen an only child and with Herbert losing his brother at such a younge age you have some difficulties finding relatives on that side. You will need to see if Elizabeth Cockayne and Herberts grandparents had siblings.
If MaryReilly Mccolgan was born in Scotland then you need to look at Scotsland People.

Added. I think Johns marriage to Angela may be a second marriage Samantha seems to have a diferent mother.

Walter was the son of Thomas & Lucy Hitchcock and have a number of siblings.
Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry & Emily Cockayne, also with siblings.

Ann could possibly find relatives from this wider family if she so wishes.

Interestingly, the only birth of a Mary Reilly McColgan (or other spelling) in Scotlands People is one in 1946 in Edinburgh. I wonder if she could be an illegitimate child of "your" Mary, born just before the marriage ??? Unfortunately, you'd have to buy a copy of the birth cert to find out - £12 (plus postage) via Scotlands People - as the birth is too recent for you to be able to view it on the site.

I realise you're really looking for Herbert's living relatives.

I would think that the woman who married Herbert was Irish by birth

The 1982 death certificate for Mary Reilly Hitchcock may give her place of birth.(GRO)

As Argyllgran says, the marriage certificate might be useful if you want to reasearch the Mccoglan line.

I had a look at certs, just to satisfy my own curiosity. I know it's not what Ann's looking for.

This turns out to be her birth, in Leith. The surname is mistranscribed on SP, and I've reported it:

Mary's father James died in Leith in 1924. His mother's maiden name was Reilly.
He was born in Glasgow in 1881.

Mary Reilly McColgan's mother Margaret Simpson is the subject of that thread.

At her marriage to Edward Malarkie on 31 Dec 1912, Margaret's name is given as Margaret Turnbull McPeak Simpson, and her parents as John Simpson, tailor, and Elizabeth Henderson.
