to be honest .......... I did not think of using the contact through the Beta site. I just remembered the email which said ....................

"Your feedback is important to us, so whether you love it, hate it or think we could improve it with a few changes, please let us know by sending your comments to "

That to me reads that they want feedback sent to that email address.

In any case ............................ I could NOT send any kind of comment through the beta site, as the GR server will not accept any email sent from my server. It has not done so for more than 2 years

I have to go to gmail to contact them

and that was the more interesting point ............

............ that the email address THEY gave for feedback was not accepted by gmail ..... calling it a "non-valid address for GR"

I'm already using the back door, you see

Porkie_Pie Report 21 Jul 2012 13:13

Mark, yes other people are,

You need to contact GR with your problem

Mark Report 21 Jul 2012 13:09

Is anyone having issues with adding new people or new data to people already in their trees - i know i am

Porkie_Pie Report 21 Jul 2012 08:26

Sylvia, I have realised that the email addy
appears to be causing problems for some people but why are members repeatedly trying to use an addy that has problems?

Surly when you go to the beta site and want to give feedback it must be easier to give that feedback using the link on the actual beta site rather than going back to the link on the received email? or by entering the flawed email addy from your email service?

It is a beta site so it's their for testing purposes and that would include testing the links within the site for contacting GR

If all else fails you can always use the one of the other email addresses such as

If i go home and my key broke in my front door then i would enter through the back door rather than standing outside wait for the locksmith

SylviaInCanada Report 21 Jul 2012 01:28

I also got the as the return address to use for feedback on the makeover.

It would not work with my home email

so I decided to use gmail.

I copied over the feedback, and tried to send it to

gmail said that address was not valid for GR

so I tried (as given by someone else

gmail said that address was not valid for GR

so I tried

But the letter most definitely gives a link to

FannyByGaslight Report 20 Jul 2012 21:21

Dont know...Is there?? :-D

Kense Report 20 Jul 2012 19:19

Is there a fault that causes the same message to appear on more than one thread?

FannyByGaslight Report 20 Jul 2012 17:50

That is the email address that was given to reply to on the email to ask an opinion on their "new look"Beta site Roy.
I know it is not their normal one for complaints/help but it is the one I was asked to reply on by the GR team..

Porkie_Pie Report 20 Jul 2012 17:33

FannyByGaslight, Not sure the email address you posted is a valid address for GR

their address for support is

or you can use the contact us under the help tab

FannyByGaslight Report 20 Jul 2012 16:21

A message that you sent to the following recipient could not be delivered due to a permanent error. ** The remote server responded with: **

554:Service unavailable; Client host [] blocked using Barracuda Reputation;

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software .

So I couldnt even give my opinion to GR asking about the new look anyway........This is a REALLY good site aint it..Total rubbish...

JoyDean Report 20 Jul 2012 08:04

"Normal" site, Ken:

Sorry. An error has occurred

The page you were trying to load has experienced an error. This error has been logged and will be investigated.

FannyByGaslight Report 19 Jul 2012 21:51

Just got the same old, same old, Error message....AGAIN..

Well not quite the OLD one to be exact as THAT has been revamped on the .....
NEW BETTER UPDATED BETA would seem...Oh well ,not long before I will be fed up reading that one as well

Can you GR team at least fix what IS broken before you fix what is NOT broken please!

Kense Report 19 Jul 2012 21:48

Yes I get that error with the Beta version but the normal site My Threads works OK.

JoyDean Report 19 Jul 2012 21:37

JoyDean Report 17 Jul 2012 23:05

Nearly six months after this thread was started, and still the error occurs sometimes :-|

Kense Report 17 Jul 2012 22:57

Actually the help given by members on the boards is a very small part of the site's function.

It you check the site activity on the home page you find that messages sent are two or three times more numerous than board postings (the majority of which are chat and games postings). New people added to trees are around ten times more numerous than messageboard posts.

It is fairly clear that this My Threads problem only affects those who have a large number of posts so it is quite a basic problem with the system and fixing it will benefit only a few members.

I suspect that the discussion items on the home page which has resulted in a lot of old threads being reactivated has had the effect of increasing the sort time associated with My Threads leading to more timeouts and consequent error messages.

GlitterBaby Report 17 Jul 2012 12:41

This site only works because of the help given by members on the boards

But for us to help properly the use of My Threads is a must.

When is this going to get sorted :-P

GlitterBaby Report 12 Jul 2012 01:50

Worked okay about 4 hours ago but now back to error message

GlitterBaby Report 5 Jul 2012 12:05

Oh for goodness sake GR when is this going to get sorted out.

GlitterBaby Report 23 Jun 2012 01:23

Certainly not working tonight

Error message after error message

When is this going to get sorted !!!!!
