Hi, I can cope with the new layout, but I cannot cope with the brightness of the page, myself like others get "snow blindness" from the pages, and it is a migraine forming colour, my suggestion would be to change this background colour. I spend hours reading the boards and doing my tree, but I'm afraid I wont be now, unless it is changed :-(

Me too Missy

I finally got my migraines under control about two months ago (I usually don't get the bad headaches, I get the blinding light ones).

I tried this "new look GR" last night and I've been on here for about five minutes this morning. Sorry to say one of my eyes is twitching.

I cannot use this site the way it is.

My subs expire 22 Aug. Definitely WILL NOT be renewing.

Not paying for something I can't see, or something that may cause migraine!!

Came off the site yesterday afternoon after about half an hour & OH asked what I had been doing because my eyes were bloodshot.
CanĀ“t be good for aging eyes.

daniel Report 3 Aug 2012 17:21

Why do you not like the way it is now then.? :-(

jax Report 3 Aug 2012 18:30

As you only joined the site in August Daniel, I doubt whether you would have seen what it was like before.

Since the changes made a few days ago GR have toned down the brightness

I would say to those who say they spend hours on here that it is always advised for all computer use that you take a 10/15 min break every 45mins.

That will help with sore eyes.

I have my monitor brightness at 44% and although it is better it is still bright.

in the years I worked with computers, I don't think my employers would have appreciated me taking a 10-15 minute break every hour.

:-D :-D

Wish I had a job like that too

It is hard to remember but I am sure we were advised to take a break even if it was only to go to the coffee machine for the team or to do something which did not involve looking at the screen. I don't think it was for 10 mins though.

Mind you in those days we did sit further back from our screens as they were at the back of a fairly wide desk with the keyboard at the front. Eyes were a bit younger then too!

Oh dear oh dear, what on earth are GR doing, this new format is terrible, I am not sure that I will be using this site anymore, I much prefer the older site which showed the information all on the same page of each person, not in dribs and drabs like now. Whatever, did GR think they were doing, they will lose a few subscribers with this sort of site. :-S

When I was working, we had anti glare screens which clipped over the monitor. like sunglasses for pcs. They were intended to stop glare from outside the computer, such as sunlight, but I wonder if they would work in reverse

You forgot to mention the 'I won't be renewing' comments from those who always do IGP :-D

lancashireAnn

I used the new set up for the first time yesterday evening and couldn't find out how to use it great wasting time. I also liked the sex colours i.e. pink for females & blue for male, the background does not suite my eye sight or brainwaves either, if you cannot put back the old colour could you use a grey background please. (If it ain't broke why fix it. leave alone.)
I wish I had known you were going to change the format of the site I'd have gone with Ancestry as their site is in better shape and more understandable just an opinion.

Cynthia Report 5 Aug 2012 17:56

Ann, IGP's comment was something on the lines of......

moan, moan, moan,.....too light...too dark....too bright....always the same ones who moan.....it will pass.....yawn yawn yawn.

That's an abbreviated version and, now this it's gone, I look as though I am talking to the invisible man. Ah well.....:-D

thanks Cynthia

I must admit I preferred the darker screen but seem to remember reading a post from Phil a day or so ago saying that they are working on it.

The rest I am sure I will get used to - after all we have coped with several changes over the years, perhaps not always for the better but some systems analyst must have thought it worth while at the time.
