Hello All .

William Charles Hagland , 1872 Northampton , 1952 Islington London

He was a Railway Steam Engine Driver , at Kings Cross , .

During his life there were thousands of childrens birthday cards printed with a photo of him on the foot-plate of the famous express " SILVER LINK " .

Would you by chance , own one , or know who has one , or where one is kept ( some sort of museum ) ?

He is my Gt Grandad , I would love to have one or at least a copy .

Please , if you can help , please contact me ,

All the very best , Dave <3

Which company printed the cards?

Is it still in existence?

Have you thought of googling the name of the loco?

The Train was owned/commissioned by the London and North Eastern Railway and was built in Doncaster sometime between 1935 & 1938 (source Wiki)

Have you considered contacting the National Railway Museum? They may have a copy amongst their memorabilia.

You could also have a look on Ebay. Obviously the listing will change frequently although you may find a dealer who offers a 'buy it now' option.

There's a photo here of silver Link with several men standing beside it - not on footplate, though - could this be the one you mean?

No wonder the name of the Locomotive sounded familiar!

Never mind - a card from Ebay is en route now
