Hi, I am trying find more about Ellen Goller's parents please. Ellen c.1854 - 1907, was definitely born and died in Fulham. Her mother I think was Honorah, who lived circa 1820 - c. 1877 and her father(?) Daniel Gollihar c. 1818 - c.1886.
All the information I have points to Ireland as their place of birth. Maybe the south rather than the north - family stories suggest that.
Ellen married Michael Callan b:1852 d: 1902 -again, Fulham - but again the name seems to have changed from Callan to Clarn by the next generation. .

Thanks

Pam

Pam....Your original thread was May 2008 so it may be worthwhile stating what info.you have obtained since then...saves duplicating anything you may already have discounted....

For ref. There is an Ellen Goller marriage to Michael Callan on the family search site ...this corresponds with what "rootgatherer" has posted however the entry on the family search site despite being "extracted" shows same marriage 2 different dates...11 March 1877 and 29 April 1877..both Hammersmith...one states St Pauls Parish.
Also listed a Marriage of Daniel Goller to a Catherine Rowland 31 Jan 1870.
Bridget Goller to George Mecoy..(probably McCoy) 30 June 1868
Father on all listed above ..Daniel Goller.
1871 Census for Hammersmith should help identify family

Thank you Eringobragh1916, sage advice. I am a tiny bit more experinced than I was but still in need of loads of help please.

1. I have established that Michael CALLAN m: Ellen Goller at St Paul's Church Hammersmith on April 29th 1877. Marriage Certificate. They were my Great Grandparents.

2. I know that Michael's father -stated on marriage certificate was Jeremiah CALLAN, Gardener

3. I know Ellen's father, again from the certificate, was Daniel GOLLER, Bricklayer.
both families are listed as Britannia Court

4. Bridget Goller (Ellen's sister) married George McCoy 30 June 1868

I have found the records of all of Michael and Ellen's children going by the surname of CLARN

This is all so confusing to this poor antipodean girl! How do I get more info on the Irish background or any thing else?

Thanks

Pam

Thanks again Eringobragh1916, you have now found Daniel Goller's (junior) marriage to Catherine Rowland. That's great, thanks again.

Thanks Ann of Green Gables,
Gee, I don't know but perhaps it's unlikely - unless I have the wrong family altogether!
The only James Goller I have found so far was born in 1841 and then the name was still Gollihar.
As for Ellen's, I have Ellen born 1853, my Great grandmother, and then her daughter, my GGreat Aunt Ellen, born 1881.

The ones you gave me were the wrong ages in 1881 - unless as I said before, I'm following the wrong family.

Thanks anyway, I am grateful for all the help and advice I can get.

Erin,

Definitely Donald on image and age is out for Donald/Daniel jnr - he was 7 on the 1871 - but it could be the same family. James's occupation ties in (Greengrocer/Costermonger).

I will see if I can find them in 1891.

Pam...That is "Donalds" grandson aged 14 He is son of James Goller who is down as a Widower also.
Not to be confused with Daniel jnr.who was son of Daniel (father of Ellen)

Potty

Potty Report 11 Aug 2010 18:01

Erin, I think the Daniel in the 1871 should have been down as Grandson, and is the son of James as there was another Daniel whose marriage you found:

Also listed a Marriage of Daniel Goller to a Catherine Rowland 31

I can't find anything in the 1891 or the 1841.
