Frank Halligan bon 20/1/1902, died in Fylde July - September 1971 aged 69.

Might have acquired US citizenship at some stage. Appears to have served on a number of ships out of Liverpool and New York (Anchises 1918 / William Black Yates 1943).

Anyone able to help with any descendents I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks

Mike Halligan

Best bet ........... buy the death certificate, see if it names a wife, and see the name of the informant. The informant could be wife, or child, or someone unknown!

Born in Liverpool. Sister Lilian.

Both have half brohers still alive (Tom and Ron), hence the reason for trying to trace relatives.

The age matches as do some person descriptions in the shipping records (height 5'9") so I am assuming he is on and the same.

A Lilian Halligan goes to NY on the Cedric in 1928. Age is shown as 25 but this maybe incorrect as the birth year appears to be a guesstimate.

She may have followed him there.

He is discharged by mutual consent in Manchester in 1944, and I assume he stays in the UK thereafter, despite appearing now to be a naturalized American.

Anyone know of any sites with naturalization info on.

Thanks

Michael

Michael Report 25 Jan 2010 01:12

Could there be 2?

Frank definately sets off from Liverpool in November 1918 aged 16 bound for NY.

He then definately arrives back in the UK in 1944 and decides to stay, ending up (eventually) in Fylde.

In one of the shipping records a 'Frank Halligan' is described as a naturalized american.

Michael,

You're leading us astray by not giving us facts.

"Frank definately sets off from Liverpool in November 1918 aged 16 bound for NY."

The image says he's 19 and born in Belfast.

You'd be better off investigating the 2 marriages in West Derby.

Not so Rose!

Look at the passenger list for The Anchises, 11th November 1918. Frank Halligan is shown as a scullery boy, nationality British / English, born 1902 (abt) and his age is shown as 16.

Are you looking at the date of enlistment column which showns 18/9/1918? When I orginally read this I thought it read 18 /9mnths.
