I have a marriage certificate dated 06 Sept 1919 for Florence Hunter (widow) aged 24 who married James Hughes in Durham.

Florence Kirk is her maiden name (father James Kirk)

The problem I am having is that i cannot locate a marriage record for when she became "Hunter" or who her first husband could be.

I have found her father James Kirk on the 1911 census and Florence isn't listed on there either . She wouldve been about 16 in 1911.

Can anyone help me please

Maybe Florence, and she's a servant living in, as there are no other Kirk s living with her.

Oh my word! is it possible that Florence couldve married at 19 year old to someone who was possibly 53 years of age.

Where was Florence born?

As the marriage took place in M'bro, then this may be her in 1911, would the place of birth fit here ?

Hi yeah this must be her as on the 1911 census for her father and mother it states the other children being born Eston, Yorks. The other children were 19, 17 and 13 and all came from there.

Florence was born abt 1895 which wouldve made her 16 in 1911 and it must be her as her birth place fits in with her siblings.

As for her husband though I am edging towards it being Nicholas only by narrowing it down to "middlesbrough"

That must be her then. I cant believe it though that she would have married such an older man. (unless there were other reasons) I think i will have to order the marriage certificate to be certain.
thanks
