I was wondering if you could help me again please.George Redfern who was born in Massachusetts 1883,i found a birth on family search for a girl born 1882 and died 1882 also in Massachusetts with the same parents called George Redfern and Sarah Young they were born sheffield.Georges parents moved from Sheffield to Connecticut and then Massachusetts,i have now found a birth for a Lena Redfern born 1880 in Connecticut with parents George Redfern and Sarah Young,would this be another family relative,i can not find a death for her or a marriage,can you help please thanks Janette.

the record is on ancestry, he served with the Yorks and Lancs Regiment regimental no 2954If you pm me your e-mail I will try ans send it to you

He joined up in Sheffield 17/11/1914 for 4 years his regiment was 4th Battalion Yorkshire and Lancs.
Number 2954 but I think maybe he was in other regiments when looking at some of the info.
There are 31 pages for him on Ancestry.co.uk but most of them are badly damaged and difficult to read.
His height was 5feet 5 inches.
There are forms signed by him.

Hi thankyou for all your help.
On one of your replys from Mary,you said you had found a George Redfern Enlisted in the Army in 1914 married to Ellen,living at 6/10 crt Hoyle street sheffield.I have just found my grandads Wedding certificate his name was Alfred Redfern Son of George and Ellen,he also lived at 6/10 crt Hoyle street Sheffield.so this must be my great grand parents,My mum never new that her grand father had been in the army or what Reg he was in,how do i find the Reg he was in and did he serve any were,please can you help. thanks Janette.

Hi,Charles Redfearn born 1827 Sheffield father was Thomas Redfearn born sheffield 1786.i have just been looking on family search and found a Thomas Redfearn christened 16 oct 1785 sheffield cathedral parents George Redfearn and Catherine,I know there is a year differance for the birth of Thomas,but could these be his parents.can any one help thanks Janette.

George Redfern born 1854 married sarah young.sarahs father was alfred young alfreds brother was thomas born 1822 his son was called oliver whos daughter was Harriert young.she married George Glaves born 1869. his father was thomas glaves and his father also called thomas, his father john had a son called robert born 1760,his daughter was called esther glaves she married samuel woods they had daughter called jane wood,she married charles redfern and had daughter called martha,who had Ellen Redfern out of wedlock who married my great grand father george redfern who was born in america.so thanks again for a good ending for my Great grand mother Ellen Redfern .Janette.

So they were both living close by each other.

Jane wood might be right their first child was born in 1853,plus if they married in 1851 she would have been early 20is.

Sorry its me again,Ellens grand mother Jane was Married to Charles Redfern,then married James Middleton,i can not find a marriage for either of them,i can not look up janes maiden name because i can not find the marriage to Charles Redfern,can you help please thanks Janette.

Hi thankyou for your help,so if i have it right Martha had Ellen when she was unmarried and a young girl,Jane was Ellens grandmother who first married Charles Redfern and later married James Middleton.Martha later maried Bernard Walker.So anyone might be Ellens father. thanks again Janette.
