Hello please can you help? I have John pearson born c1862 in York on the 1911 census.He is with wife Annie Elizabeth (1871) Burnham,Bucks and children William John (1895),Charles Alfred (1897),Helen Annie (1898) and Lilian Edith (1900) all born in South Norwood.
I have searched for John on all other census in vain.I can't even find him or the children on the 1901 census.

According to census 1911 there was a fifth child, stll living.

Not having any joy at all regarding John Pearson on earlier census records I'm afraid.

This could be the person who became his wife in 1891 although her birth year out a bit on the census.

I can only suggest taking a gamble and buying a copy of the marriage certificate in the hope that it may provide some clues as to John Pearson's background.

Doesn't help having two John Pearsons both living in Battersea, in census 1911 and both with a wife called Annie Elizabeth!

I agree Kucinta that two same couples make it difficult but the 1911 says my two have been married for 20 years so Annie Elizabeth Munday seems the best bet fingers crossed.

They just do not seem to exist under that name before 1911!!!!!........... dratt!!!

BUT their births were registered as Pearson!

I really do not understand this !

I have worked through the 1901 census putting in children's christian names with dates and place of birth in case I had missed a weird misspelling of Pearson but that brought no joy.
I have bitten the bullet and ordered the marriage certificate of John Pearson to Annie Elizabeth Munday.I will let you know when I have it.

It doesn't really help any but if you look again at the image from 1911, you will see that John was actually born c 1868, NOT 1862 !!

He is 43 (not 49) - compare the 3 in Helen's age and the 3 in the address - they are very strange but they are 3's

I'd advise getting one of the children's birth certificates at the same time, to be certain of who mother Annie was.

I've done the same as Jonesey -- even searching 1901 by year and place of birth without names, for the children -- to no avail. Considered temporary emigration -- it's why my gr-grparents are missing from the 1891, but back in West Ham by 1901, but fortunately we knew about that. But found no passenger records at FMP that matched at all.
