Are they together in 1851?

Sandra

Sandra Report 22 Apr 2010 17:11

I cannot find them on the 1851 census they are in the 1841 census living in Princess Street Shrewsbury, then Sarah is there in 1861 & 1871 census

Yes these are them, obviously surname spelt wrongly so it looks as though William died young; in the 1841 census it says George age 2 and a baby 1 month - where is it in 1851?
I am so sorry I have been called out, I will be out for appprox 3 hours (I hope) I do apologise but I have to go when needed, but I will log on later this evening, please continue to help me.

I am home now. look forward to hearing from you

Just guessing here:
IGI
JESSY CARTER WORRALL
Pedigree
Female

Event(s):
Birth:
26 APR 1841
Christening:
12 AUG 1841 Saint Chad, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England
Death:
28 FEB 1842
Father: WILLIAM WORRALL
Mother: SARAH
The 1841 census was taken June 7,so the age would be about right.
There seems to be 2 other children born to William and Sarah-a William John and a William Carter who have died.

I'm not terribly "good at Shropshire". Anyone else have more experience?

This looks promising - thank you - any more info would be helpful
I have looked on 'find my past' for the census returns for 1851 and cannot find them - how can I find out when William John & William Carter were born and died? do you think Carter could have been Sarah's maiden name?

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 22 Apr 2010 21:55

I did sort of wonder about Carter as Sarah's maiden name.

No idea why you can't see them on FMPast. That's where the info I gave you came from!

http://www.familysearch.org/ENG/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

Put William Worrall and Sarah as Father and mother's names. Set the region, country, county so it's Shropshire. Search and look at the results for the ones in St Chad. (There are a few more, actually).
I noticed that there are quite a few early births in Shrewsbury for "male" and "female" Worralls on FreeBMD which might match.

Good luck!

Sandra IGI is on Familysearch.org it is a free site and good to look up on before the 1837 indexes. They have submitted records on there too and these are not always correct. If you find one that is Extracted they are usually true.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Apr 2010 23:30

Well all I can say is that their last child was born in 1845 and it was Christened with the parents as William Worral and Sarah so he must have been alive then and he was'nt on the 1851 census so the death should be in about 1845 to 1851. PROBLEM IS WHERE DID HE DIE??

Sorry hit the caps lock!

MaureeninNY

Sandra

Sandra Report 23 Apr 2010 07:40

Peacock Passage is between Princess Street and High Street Shrewsbury, it seems Sarah lived there from the 1841 census until she died there 24th March 1874 It looks as though Sarah Carter bp. 1 Jan 1803 at Painswick could be her, and the William Worrall above could be his death.
Any idea's about his birth? do you think they could have been married in Gloucester ?

Sandra

Sandra Report 23 Apr 2010 21:44

This looks to be 'my' William, but where was he born perhaps he was born in Gloucestershire - any suggestions

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 24 Apr 2010 01:46

Just my opinion and it's a gamble-but I'd really get one of the children's birth certificates to find out Sarah's maiden name.
That's about the best starting point to go for.
