Hi MC, just keep pressing the ;-) button, that does the trick

But at least this time, doesn't look like I've been reported YET :-D

MarieCeleste Report 24 Feb 2013 22:55

Wish there was a "like" button Flip ;-)

Flip Report 24 Feb 2013 22:12

No, don't think you;re missing anything Wisechild - bit of a damp squid really! :-D

I'd rather prefer to help the real people - not just those who show up at a publicity event - not that it looks like many showed up!

Sorry, I'm probably going to be reported again for being negative or abusive, but who cares :-P

wisechild Report 24 Feb 2013 15:19

There doesn´t seem to have been very much activity on the board compared with last year.......or am I missing something too :-0 :-0 :-0

Gwyn in Kent Report 24 Feb 2013 08:22

If the board is temporary, where will the weekend visitors to WDYTYA find their posts and how can we add further information, as presumably GR staff will lock the board to prevent it developing into an extra query board after this weekend?

...or have I missed something...?

wisechild Report 24 Feb 2013 07:23

Took me ages to find the link yesterday.
Finally found it on the Genes post at the top of Find Ancestors.
Genes don´t want too many people getting an extra month´s sub obviously.
Also found several that were already on the boards with lots of existing input from members.
Surely it wouldn´t be too taxing for the team to ask whether the query had been posted before & save us wasting our time.

GlitterBaby Report 23 Feb 2013 15:48

Oh dear

Guidelines for message board use

3. Your general conduct

Please do not submit the same or similar material more than once.

So the Team had better remove their duplicate post - once on this board and also on Find Ancestors

Rambling Report 22 Feb 2013 23:59

Can I ask the team ( and warn helpers!) to check whether enquiries have been made by posters before.

I wasted a lot of time today searching records only to discover that a huge amount of work had already been done on the search by helpers on the FA board several years ago

GlitterBaby Report 22 Feb 2013 22:34

Why is the link to this board not shown on General Chat and Genealogy Chat Boards ?

GlitterBaby Report 22 Feb 2013 22:29

This is not a lookup board for members but for people who are attending WDYTA.

Would be better to place this on Find Ancestors Board.

Genes Advisor Report 22 Feb 2013 12:05

Hi everyone, sorry for any confusion! We have now added the link to the board in our original posts on Find Ancestors and Announcements.

I'm happy to help if I can.

Thank goodness for fellow helpers to enable us to do that. I was wandering and wondering too.

Yep, a reeeeeeal clever place to put it :-)
Thanks to Joy and Choccy I'm here, otherwise would not have found it in a month of blue moons . :-D

Joy Report 22 Feb 2013 10:36

:-S ;-)

1 month extension to their membership

LadyKira Report 22 Feb 2013 09:29

Have a great day GR. Working today so see you later. LK :-D

Cynthia Report 22 Feb 2013 08:25

Need radar to find this. Good morning Choccy......

It will be interesting to see how it works this year.

LK, I like that idea too..........not just because it is hoped that more people will find out how brilliant the help on the board can be, but because it should save me some work if people are advised on how to respond to help given them. :-D ;-)

Choccy Report 22 Feb 2013 07:57

Glad I had my Sherlock Holmes hat on ! :-D

LadyKira Report 22 Feb 2013 01:32

"We will be sending every person who posts a question home with an instruction sheet on how to find their posts again, and how to ask further questions. we hope this will encourage more people to realise the value of the boards."
I like this idea. :-D

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Feb 2013 01:14

it will be chaos if it is not threaded ......

................. unless a responder always C&Ps the question, and answers all in the same post.

Not well thought out, methinks!

the people asking questions at WDYTYA may have a hard time working their way through this Board to find their question!

Renes Report 21 Feb 2013 23:29

Suppose the reply will have to C & P to the question ........... would that work

my baby Hedgehog.... is so cute
