Any other threads about the same people, with any other guesses about their identities, that anyone should be averted to?

"Now I would like to find out if it was Susan West or Susan Parker who married John Smith According to the 1841 census she was born in 1808"

Oh you would, would you?

And anyone who has tried to help you already without the least please or thank you would care ... why?

"My James Smith married Kezia Ann Abraham from Olney Buckinghamshire date unknown and moved to West Yorkshire. Their children were born in Burney, Lancashire and Huddersfield W. Yorkshire1868-1879."

No they weren't.

1871

James Smith 35
Kezia A Smith 36
Kezia A Smith 11
Alice Smith 7
Florence Smith 5
Fred Smith 2
Lilly Smith 8 months

Unless the children born before Fred were not children of the couple.

Nope. Here they are in 1861.

Civil parish: Hipperholme With Brighouse
County/Island: Yorkshire
Thomas Smith 47
Ellen Augusta Smith 23
Mary Ann Dawson 26
Betsy Noble 24
> James Smith 24
> Kezia Ann Smith 26
> Kezia Ann Smith 1

The quality of your information is rather poor.

Alan

Alan Report 11 Aug 2010 04:52

The 1861 list you show is not correct. The children were
Kezia 1860
Alice1864
Florence1866
Fred1868
GeorgeA1877
Albert E1879

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 11 Aug 2010 04:58

Excuse me?

The 1861 list shows only Kezia, aged 1, as shown in your list.

The 1871 list shows Kezia, Alice, Florence, Fred and Lily.

If that information is incorrect, it's because your ancestors reported incorrect information.

YOUR list appears to be incorrect. You are missing Lily. Perhaps she died in infancy.

Obviously, an 1871 census list does not show children born after 1871. DUH.

Now, what I was responding to was what you said:

"My James Smith married Kezia Ann Abraham from Olney Buckinghamshire date unknown and moved to West Yorkshire. Their children were born in Burney, Lancashire and Huddersfield W. Yorkshire1868-1879."

And as I said: No. Their children were not born 1868-1879. They were born starting in about 1860. As you evidently knew, but decided to say something different anyway.

You're welcome.

Alan

Alan Report 11 Aug 2010 05:13

Well DUH to you too I t is very late at night here and it was not done on purpose as you apparently want to accuse me of. Lily was born 1870 and I am not trying to play games, just trying to get information
Thank you for the help. It is appreciated

Thank you for the list of family. It reinforces the info that I had and clarifies the birthplace of some which I could not read correctly on the original census images

Thank you Barbara, The puzzle is getting closer to completion. I suppose that the writing on the census formscauses a difference for birth. For James It might be hard to distinguish a 7 from a 9 in 1837 or 1839By subtracting his age from the census year, I had assumed he was born 1837

Barbara

Barbara Report 12 Aug 2010 21:03

Hi Alan
You will find that most ages are out by at least 1 to 2 years and sometimes a lot more.

I think the Dye connection is proved by the information on the census of 1851

Good luck with your research
Regards
Barbara

Could someone please see if they can find parents of John Smith b. 1808 so I can get back one more generation. They possibly lived in Norwich proper or surrounding area. Diss, Bawdswell, or Pentney for example. He may have had a brother Thomas

Alan

Alan Report 14 Aug 2010 05:26

Thank you Barbara, I too, think the Dye connection is verified
