Right, I've got Edward Seniors death certificate. We do have the right Edward Kitching, died 20th april 1922 aged 51, a butchers manager. Unfortunately, there is no wife listed, onyl my grandfather, edward Richard Kitching who is described as Edward Seniors son, present at the death. The place of death is the same address that appears on Edward Richards marriage certificate [to Rose Thornton].
So not much use in tracking Edward Richards mother.
Have to go - work demands. There are some people I need to talk to who might be able to give me more hints. I'll post again when I've spoken to them.

There are more Kitchings than you'd expect though aren't there? All solid lancashire and Yorkshire working class roots as well. I quite like that. Explains why I have a reputation for straight talking.

OK, thanks. This is at least a new one.. Perhaps we'd better wait for this death certificate to come through before drawing any conclusions though.

By the way, I've cracked a nice Cabernet instead.

George junior became the General mentioned earlier. It may be possible to work back to some common link, although I haven't been able to, but then I'm not too hot at this stuff yet and keep wandering off on threads. [like now perhaps!]

David

David Report 7 Jun 2008 16:47

There was a George Charlesworth Kitching who was manager of AS Watsons Ltd in Canton, China where his sons, George and Hugh were born, the former in 1910. There's supposed to have been a link... AS Watsons Ltd dealt in soft frinks, licquor and medecines.
Just trying to throw anything I can in here..his mothers surname was Rowe.

david I suppose its a possibility but I can't find a marriage for emily williams to edward kitching

i'm just going to double check - double checked no marriage in UK

David

David Report 7 Jun 2008 16:39

I still have a hunch about this Emily Williams thing, that she may have been ERKs mother and that he was registered as Edward Richard WIlliams, in Poplar London. But if there's one thing I'm learning fast here it's how easy it is to chase red herrings...
