I'm off on a tangent now because I know this Thomas isn't a direct ancestor. (I believe it's his sister Isabelle who was mother of 1882 Thomas.) Name is mispelled but I'm sure it's him:

Groom Name:
Thomas Fallenfield Place
New Westminster District Reg. Number:
1889-09-114461 Copy Available
Bride Name
Margret Kyle Date:
1889 3 4 (Yr/Mo/Day) Event:
Marriage Microfilm #:
B11381 (GSU # 1983709)

And I believe this is Margaret on the 1881 Canadian census. (I wonder what the relationship is of the Kyles to the Johnsons?)

That's the one's Dea...have all the detail's for that side, Margaret was the one I was missing after the birth of minnie(my grandmother)
I never knew my mum was fostered untill after her death in1989..just assumed the people she talked about(dead long before my birth) were here mum and dad. Only found out when going through her stuff and came across a application form for her birth cert, in the name Gilpin, which was half completed but never sent off...that's how I started all this tree stuff. Dabbled on and off for year's..then started in earnest last November when I had more time on my hand's...as you can tell it's now an obsesssion.

Have to go and soak in the bath for a while - I have been sitting here with purple legs all day - long story !!

To cut it short, and just for a laugh - I have been struggling to find clothes to fit me as I am quite tiny! - I found a lovely pair of black Jeans in Tesco the other day - size 6 'petite' - fitted like a glove - such joy!!

However, I wore them for the first time yesterday, without washing them first (Soo excited), but the dye came off all over my undies + me from the waist down !!

It didn't come off in the shower this morning so now I must go and 'soak' for an hour! Tee hee !!

Will be back later!

Dea x

P.S. - I will take the brandy with me.

Oh sure, Dea! Purple legs, indeed! How many brandys have you had?

Dea

Dea Report 14 Aug 2008 17:39

EXcuuuusee Mee!!! but you wouldn't think it was so funny if it was YOU with purple legs!!!!!!!!!

What if I had gone out??

What if I had had an accident ??

People would have seen them !! and thought I was covered in buises!! - My poor husband' could have been accused of beating me, or worse !!...

Anyway, MOST of it has gone now so back to the matter in hand!.

I have checked through all the directories I can find in the area and there is NO record of a James Fallowfield at any time - and certaiunly no Blacksmiths I can find in the family!

There was a birth of a James in 1852 but didn't appear on census:

Births Sep 1852

Fallowfield James Kendal 10b 501

There was a death in 1858 which MAY be him:

Deaths Jun 1858
Fallowfield James Kendal 10b 361

the only other death up to 1910:

Deaths Dec 1876

FALLOWFIELD James 62 W. Ward 10b 371
...............
another death in 1915, but again I cannot find him through any census:

Deaths Mar 1915 .........therefore born c1847
Fallowfield James 68 E.Ward 10b 1160
.................................

Sorry Dea...didnt mean to offend..just my daft sense of humour, I'ts the kind of thing that would happen to me!!

I have scoured for James also and come to the same conclusion as you...could it be a lie...but why?
Could there be some deep dark hidden secret, I wonder.

Dea Report 14 Aug 2008 18:12

What I did find in the directories, amongst many other things was:

1885 - Jane Fallowfield living at the Arches, Long Marton, Appleby

Every other directory gave at this address- Thomas Joel Fallowfield! - there IS a connection somewhere!

Following through, if you can make any sense of it ??

I am not sure where all this is leading - this is why I didn't post it before!!

I think it is best to wait until your certs come through and then work from there??

I will keep all my notes to hand - just give us all the details when you receive them!

Hi Janice...Dea and Margaret amaze me by their wealth of knowledge, (I'm floundering around in the dark, stumbling across stuff)....it's fantastic.

Dea there was a James Fallowfield, born 1847, Orton who died at "The Arches" Long Marton in 1915.
Father William Fallowfield Joel...1800 to186, Mother Jane Swidenbank..1806.
Found on tree on Ancestry...I know this cannot be taken on face value but thought it may help for reference!

Hi Dea,I agree with you about some of the trees on Ancestry ! I have a rel who seems to have found anyone living in the villiage in census years with the family surname and added them as a rel to us!
