Nothing is coming up I'm afraid and I have tried under the kids names too and also varients. The 1851 census was only a certain percentage of the whole of England & Scotland so there is every chance that they just may not be on it.

Hi Lesley,
I'd like to find this family in 1851 please-James Barrie age 35 in 1841 when he lived at Viewfield,Carnwath,Lanarkshire with wife Margaret(Wilson) age 35 ,and children Robert 10,Alexander 8,James 7,John 5 and Thomas 3 and anyone else with them. Many thanks,

John

Hopefully this will help you find her fathers name so you can then narrow down the search. This also blows out of the water the born 1890 theory as she would have had to be at least 16 when she married and they married in 1900!!! Thats puts her birth 1880-1884

Marriages Mar 1900

Tomlinson William Stourbridge 6c 165

Wootton Alice Stourbridge 6c 165

The Marriage cert wil give you the Fathers name, her age & possible witnesses which sometimes prove to be brothers/sisters.

Lesley

PS. It will also give you their addresses which will prove invaluable to you when tracing them in the 1901 census.

Thank you for the Dodson's Lesley, no i have no info on Henrietta, have just posted another message for her father Henry....I have found him on IGI under Stookensmith, knowing my luck his name is possibly foreign, ie Stuckenschmidt, All i can tell you is that she was married in Bethnal Green, and her parents married in Marylebone.

Dont worry if you cannot find, thank you for looking

Well,
fancy him having such a young wife.
I bet she was the second Mrs Roland
Thanks for clearing that up for me
I shall look for marriages of a William Robert Roland now.

Yes it stated daughter on Census Record.

However be aware that the marriage record was only taken by what the Bride & Groom Stated so his name could have been William Robert but he chose to be called Robert. The marriage certificate can never be taken as gospel. That census record just seems to pinpoint Amy & Phoebe and they are not common names.

Emma was definitely down as wife on the census record.

Hi Lesley,
i have just checked out your Phoebe birth and guess what Aukfield is in Sussex as well.
I wonder if William was an uncle or other relation that they were staying with.
Did it say daughter on the census?

Blue1 Report 30 Apr 2009 17:14

Oh forgot to say,
no i don't have Bethanys birth cert,so will have to locate her and buy it.
She changes where born on the census's after her marriage.
On most she states born Peckham, but on the 1891 she states Eastbourne!
I have looked on freebmd, and the only birth i could find for a Bethany Roland was in Eastbourne in 1857

Births Mar 1857 (>99%)
Roland Bathany Eastbourne 2b 55
Births Mar 1857 (>99%)
Roland Elizabeth Eastbourne 2b 55

I tried the other spelling as well, also i think an for Amy
so i wonder why she says on her marriage cert that her father is Robert!
I do have the other sister Phoebe's marriage details so i will send for that as well, and see what she say's
I think Emma must be a sister.

thanks very much again

Hi,
re Faulkners/Roland
Goodness me,
thanks Lesley.
Now i have more questions than answers, should keep me occupied for a while.
On the marriage cert she gives her father as Robert Roland a gardener.
But the Hawker William sounds more like it to me.
Thanks for all your help Lesley,it's very much appreciated
