Hi all, sorry for not getting back to you all sooner.. I've no excuse for this (at times I wished there was an option of notification of replies!)

So to those who were waiting for me to search - is it still needed? If so, then please repeat the request.

Hello T in Middlesex

If you have time... I have a tricky one.. My Grandfather James Thomas Worboys b 1914 married Eunice E Grummitt my Grandmother... They had Geraldine Worboys in 1936 and my Father Garrick James Worboys in 1941 I have all the docs for these... What my problem is ...My Grandfather James Worboys was a jazz musician in London and he apparently changed his name to Jimmy Williams.. I thought it was a stage name and apparently was.. He did however remarry after divorcing my Grandmother and had a child I believe around 1955 called David Williams... I would like to see if there was a name change by deed poll to williams which would have been after 1941 I believe . I cannot find a death cert for him under Worboys in the 1970 = 1990's I was wondering how David could have been called Williams without a legal change in name by his father...

I hope this is not too much too ask..

Thanking you in advance

Karen Bailey (nee Worboys)

Hi Barbara..

No luck in the marriage, sorry (It stops at 1850)

And I'm afraid that I wont be able to look for George Ford as the records is too early for me to search.

London Apprenticeship Abstracts 1442-1850
Apprentices of Great Britain 1710-1774

Sorry again..

Joy,

After putting Brooks with no names, I got over 500 hits, thought great.. But when I entered the names that you've mentioned.. Not one came up (with a frustrated sigh)

So sorry :o(

Hi Karen,

I'm afraid British Origins wouldnt cover those years so therefor no available records after 1900s for that kind.

But here's my thoughts.. Have you actually found the birth ref of his son, David? If not, then maybe David himself named Williams when he got older after his father?

Williams is very tricky and common surname of course!
