Sorry pianogirl - I have no idea why you have posted such a comment. I wasn't aware that anyone had assumed anything about adoption. This is just a thread that Sylvia started in an effort to help newcomers to the boards which we nudge up to the top as and when we are available to do so.

Hope this catches your eye Sylvia.

Hi Jeanie

Painogirl has got it wrong

......... nothing mentioned about adoptive parents in the header message, just how difficult it is to expect to get living people just wandering by and spotting a posting when less than 1% of members look on these boards.

Not going to say any more about it

Hi Sylvia

After I posted earlier I did read through this thread and there is something about adoptions on page 2 but cannot see that it should cause any problems. I'll not mention it again - just see if pianogirl drops in to explain.

Hi Jeanie

I'd forgotten about those postings re adoptions on p. 2

..... but the caution still applies

this is NOT a safe site, and it really is unwise to post too much information on here in case it gets on to google or one of the other search engines.

I'm afraid pianogirl has a problem in wanting to find information ...... some was posted on the thread she put up earlier this year, but she does not appear to have returned to that thread

I think I will pm her and tell her how to return to that thread (that's if I can work this new messaging system!)

Hi Sylvia

New messaging system? What that? PM'd to give feedback to someone who helped me with a thread about 10 days ago. No problem then.

Jeanie

GR has changed the Messages

If you get a message from someone, you now have to click on the TITLE of the thread to open it

If you click on the name of the sender, you get a short profile of the sender

You have to put a title on every message that you send, or it will not go

Thanks for the info Sylvia. First bit doesn't look like a problem but mystified as to why you should require a profile. Suppose ours not to reason why.

Well, surprisingly out of the blue today I got a message from someone enquiring about my ex-husband's brother-in-law. I've replied but didn't get this 'profile'. She did allow me to see her tree. Wonderful - all details were hidden except 1 dead one so the name she was enquiring about wasn't showing in her tree at all!

What a treasure, thank you for that valuable advice for we less experienced researchers. We tend to stumble along making our research more difficult that it needs to be. Thanks again. P
