Hi, Looking for births 1920 to 1930 on Isle of Arran Scotland. Is it under Ayr and what area do i put. Thanks Philippa

Gins Report 30 Dec 2009 15:56

You'll need Scotlands People for this search as Scotish BMD's are not on Ancestry

I think its north ayrshire

Philippa Report 30 Dec 2009 16:02

Hi Ginny, I am looking on Scotlands people and the area is Ayr with all the different areas to choose, i do not know which one it is. Thanks Philippa

Julia Report 30 Dec 2009 16:39

Phillipa, possibly comes under Argyl and Bute
Bute ex.pat.
Julia in Derbyshire

Helen Report 30 Dec 2009 17:04

On the Scotlandspeople website:

Arran comes under the County of Bute.

Followed by districts: ie. Isle of Arran ... Brodick .... Lochranza .... Shishkin .... Lamlash etc.

Philippa Report 30 Dec 2009 17:50

HI Helen, Thanks , Lamlash is the place i want. Thanks again Philippa

Catherine Report 10 Dec 2012 21:52

Hi Phillipa

there are two parishes on Arran - Kilmory and Kilbride. Lamlash is in Kilbride

WayneTracey Report 10 Dec 2012 21:58

You will be stuck by the rules on what data you can see.

Scotland has rulings like Aus, and you cannot view births online past 1912. It'll be a case of ordering certs sadly.

The more info you know the better, otherwise you'll be looking for a needle in an expensive haystack :-(
