I checked out the address on my A-Z.
I was puzzling why an address would be off a main rd I was very familiar with but I did not recognize. We sat naved it on our way past yesterday. To our amazenent it is not a rd but I tiny pedestrian alley around 5-6 feet wide. Never noticed it before. It was dark and we could not stop but may be original buildings.

Hey Ladykira.

Thanks for that..... i did have a look on Googlemaps, as they have traced the images past there.... The lane did look tiny.

I wonder if they are the original buildings?

I have resurrected this one.

I think we can now assume that Ethel Marshall Warby was indeed born Ethel Marshall Currell.

Her mother is Sarah (maiden name unknown), but whom is her father?.... i have tried to narrow it down a little, but i need some opinions from others!!

I am going to order this birth cert i think, but it would be nice if we solved it before it arrives!

There was a John Walby / Sarah Currell marriage found.

This birth would maybe give another surname for mummy?Or not.

Births Mar 1886
WARBY Alfred John St. Alban's 3a 557

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 23 Sep 2010 00:54

If you follow Sarah back under Currell (assuming she didnt marry and had Maud and Ethel out of wedlock)she has siblings with some of her childrens names.
Alfred and Alice.

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 23 Sep 2010 01:00

Now this is where i should do as others do and assume the head of the house is the father of the children and go on a wild goose chase and copy a wrong tree lol....

FannyByGaslight Report 23 Sep 2010 01:11

But you are ordering that birth to be sure ,so later on you wont have to chop your tree up for firewood and use it to keep warm at one of your Fests instead..!

WayneTracey

I just find it weird how Ethel married under the name Warby and Maude her sister married under the name Currell.

I was thinking maybe they didn't know John Warby wasn't their father, but it seems they probably did!

T x

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 23 Sep 2010 11:29

Maybe Mr Warby WAS Ethels father and just not on her birth cert.
But with the name of Marshall as her middle name I would have thought that a Mr Marshall was her father myself, seeing has how she looks to be very much of the same kind of birth as my Nan...Illegitimate !

I loose track.
Do you have Ethels marriage cert? I cant remember..

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 23 Sep 2010 17:18

Yeah i have Ethel's marriage cert, what did you wanna know, aparent from the obvious and she names John Warby as her father!

T x

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 23 Sep 2010 18:25

That was what I wanted to know,if she named a father.
Dont mean he is her father, but he could well be simply by the fact that she marries as Warby and names him and Maude doesnt..

Have you investigated back on either the Warby or Currell line to see if Marshall is a name that crops up anywhere else?
