Hi all

I'm back on line and have read through all the posts you've kindly made today. Amazing progress on the Chesneys - thanks for that! Don't think we've found the right Alfred yet though, which is really frustrating after all your hard work. Yes, I was definitely told that he grew up and had (at least) 4 children - Alfred, Helen (or Nellie), Albert and Rose. I'm sure he would've been born in either Islington or West Ham. I think they moved to West Ham in the early 1870s as, apart from William Benjamin (born 1870, died 1872) in Islington, all the later children were born in West Ham.

I have looked on Ancestry Members trees and can find nothing for Rose, Helen Albert or Alfred with father Alfred. Nothing on census either for an Alfred with children of those names.

How frustrating........................................

Hi all, thanks again for your efforts. You've given me a lot of leads even if we didn't find Alfred. If you're here, could I prevail on your good natures (and research expertise) to ask a couple more questions pls?
Rambling Rose: you mentioned on one of the posts "I have got a Rose and Albert born West Ham to same mmn" in 1911 census. I've bought some credits so how do I do a search with all the search criteria: Birch, Rose, Albert and West Ham? Also on another post you mention that you have an Alfred and Mary Birch with a daughter Rose so same question applies(pls excuse my ignorance but I've only bought a few credits and want to use them efficiently!).
Tracey: I'm reviewing the Chesneys again and am getting a bit confused with the marriages. If I order a marr. cert. for the Joseph Chesney/Eliz Russell marriage will it have more info than on line - in particular the ages? According to my calculations, Joseph should be around 55 (since he died 7 yrs later aged 62) and Eliz somewhere in her 40s (having been married 20 yrs before, widowed but still able to bear two more children). Also it states that he was a printer but on Eliz Letitia's marriage it says father carpenter (and so I'm not sure they are the same Joseph Chesney esp as it also says his name is Benjamin Joseph not Joseph Benjamin.) I know they often transposed things etc but I want to be sure they are the same person! So do you think the marr. certs. would help here? Thanks a million again. Regards

Hi Silverbirch, I am not too well up on the best way to search 1911 and can't remember now how i did it! I don't seem to be getting what I had before? will try and replicate it,

This one I think

HOUSEHOLD BIRCH ALFRED EDWARD M 1906 5 Fulham London , I think with Rose and mary Ann

was also looking at
HOUSEHOLD BIRCH ALFRED M 1869 42 Fulham London

before you use your credits I would ask on board for a look up I think, if someone already has a sub it will narrow it down and you can use yours for image?

Thanks RR. Which board do I use to ask for a look-up? Are people happy to do it as I don't want to ask for too much!!
