I am still looking for Edith. Help would be appreciated

Eileen Report 28 Jul 2010 14:48

Hi All, one last shot at finding Edith Hewitt my paternal grandmother. I have found out that there is a death of Edith recorded in St Helens Lancashire 18-2-1943- I purchased the death certificate, but to no avail, as this Edith died in a mental institution, the informant of the death on the cert was the superintendant of the hospital. and she was buried in an un marked grave. So I dont know if this is my relative. I did try to find her birth details but the registery office of where her death was recorded couldnt find any record of her birth. I am at a loss as where to go next. As you can see from my past searches I have masses of information on my Fathers adoptive family with the wonderful help of GR members, but no Edith to be found. I have left my search alone for a while cos it was taking over my life. Anyhow if all you good people out there have any more ideas where I can look I would be most grateful. As I say I have lots and lots of information alread so I dont want to go over old ground, but I am still "wondering". ThanksEileen

Hello Kaye nice to hear from you. It has been a very rocky road, and very emotional at times. I still am looking for Dads mother just waiting on a birth cert. which could be the final piece?? but then again I could be up a blind alley. I have been looking on and off for years, so with the help of many kind people I will not give up on my Dad. Good luck with your search, and as you say the GR members are fantastic in helping with searches I think they are so considerate too. Regards Eileen

Good Afternoon All
Can anyone advise me? I have found a few postings on the looking for list that are relevant to my search, and one in particular that may be a Skerry belonging to my Dad's adoptive family. I have sent a message to a few of these members but no replies. I am wondering if their subs have run out so there is no chance that they will see my request. Is there any way that GR would contact them on my behalf to let them know they have messages waiting, or is that just not done? Its very frustrating when you think you have a match then you don't get a reply. Thanks all regards Eileen

I think Ellen 1861 with John and jane 1901 was actually Eleanor Ann born 1857 Stourbridge.
1861 John Hewet 1827 leicestershire
jane 1830 stourbridge
Elenor 1857
Mary Jane 1859
Fred 1860
Eleanor Ann hewitt reg in Stourbridge 1857,no Ellen though..

Eleanor on 1871 census with John and Jane no Ellen

Ellen in 1881 a servant for Edwin Parks in Stourbridge.

1881 John and Jane in Stourbridge.

Eleanor A Hewitt died Liverpool South 1935 age 79 =1856/7

Good Morning All
A little poser for you please.
On 1901 census I have John Hewitt age 77 dob 1825 he is a jobbing gardner
His Wife Jane (? maiden name) dob 1829 age 72 they are living at 57 Gwydir Street Toxteth Liverpool. Living with them is thier daughter Ellen Hewitt dob1861 she is 40 years old single and a laundress.
then there is Jessie Hewitt Grandaughter age 19 dob 1882 she is a teacher I presume she is John and Jane's granddaughter. Who's child might she be. Also My "Edith Hewitt" has a birth year around the same time 1882. Could they be twins??? or sisters?
Also John and Jane's background who are their children etc. Off I go again, another branch of the family is emerging. There are so many children on my tree all with the same christian names. No wonder im'e confused. thanks for your help regards Eileen

Hi all when you have time to spare can you check the 1911 census Charles Aubrey(1883) is on it,but what was his occupation. Should I be looking where he was in 1914.
I have checked out James(Jimmy) what a high flyer he was. When he died he was living in a very expensive area in Hollywood USA, where all the celebs of past and present live. He was a real celeb.
