Still looking for John Heatleys parents and siblings?

Simon

Simon Report 9 Apr 2011 22:43

Yes, but it is John Heatley 1813 descendents I am interested in.

William Heatley would be a bonus because his family history is documented back to the 1600's

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 9 Apr 2011 22:41

pity - at least you have confirmed his niece

Simon

Simon Report 9 Apr 2011 22:27

I also read this

http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=53075

It states Williams father was James Heatley.

He would have been born in about 1740

He could be John 1813 grandfather or great grandfather

Simon

Simon Report 9 Apr 2011 22:18

Yes

Nothing of interest

No mention of brothers or nephews.

Left his money and estate to his neice Catherine Eastwood.

So he had a sister who married and Eastwood or Catherine married an Eastwood

Thanks Ann
I will look that up.
Still a mystery who is parents were.
I still have relatives in that part of Blackley even today.

I wonder why his death would be reported in Leeds and Blackburn?

Something is odd here

Can't find his parents and his wife and family died in poverty.

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 6 Apr 2011 22:45

his death announcement is in the Leeds Mercury

Heatley - On Oct 13th age 56 John Heatley esq surgeon of Barnes Green Blackley

almost the same wording in the Blackburn Standard

You cannot read William Heatley's will at Preston. Your only options are to download it (£3.50) or send for it (£5). Preston only hold wills pre 1858 for those proved in the Archdeaconry of Chester (and sometimes Richmond) but not Canterbury.

I don't think all wills are on ancestry. I am fairly sure I have some which do not come up on ancestry. It is worth checking the probate index on fiche in major libraries and record offices

Chris

I havn't read William Heatley's Will no.
I need to back to Preston one day.

John the surgeon seems to have died penniless. His wife and son had very lowly paid jobs and lived in poverty when he died.

I will check the newspapers.

Many thanks for your advice.

Chris Ho :) Report 4 Apr 2011 17:44

So are you saying you have read the Will of William 1841, to rule out if by chance there was mention of a John Heatley, Surgeon...

Incidentally, the John Heatley, Surgeon who died 1867, didn't seem to leave a Will, on checking Probate Index, Ancestry.

Have you seen Jonesey's Newspaper Thread on Tips Board?, by joining Lancs. Library (free to join) you can then search newspapers. If you already haven't.

Chris :)

Hi Everyone

I have seen this info before what I can't do is link William Heatley to John Heatley born in 1813.

I am convinced somehow that William Heatley of Brindle Hall is an uncle or great Uncle of John Heatley.

There seems to be masses of information but not enough.

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 4 Apr 2011 14:50

that looks promising - PCC will so does not show on Lancs pre 1858 records

www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Have you tried searching on the above?...
Putting Heatley Brindle in the searchbox brings up a Will 1841 for William, available to download £3.50...amongst other articles.

Chris :)

Simon Report 4 Apr 2011 14:30

I believe I discounted William Heatley as being John's father.

None of the other family members are the same and it is the wrong part of Preston.

Thanks for your help Ann

This is a mystery.

I can't find Johns birth or siblings or his parents.

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 4 Apr 2011 13:50

did you look at the letters of admin for William Heatley 1846?

I can't find any other death than the 1840 one so could be the same Wm - wills were often proved later and there were also 2 'infra' wills for Heatley's of Brindle in the same year
