Seriously guys, thanks for being so understanding. I'm hoping (praying) that my new charger was posted today, or at least tomorrow, as it's only been one day and I'm already having withdrawls from not having it or proper access to the Internet.

Hope to be posting again soon, and from my laptop!

Mhairi.
You can open a starter account (60credits) with Scotlands People by buying the card for 6 pounds from most ? local libraries in Scotland thus enabling you to reduce the cost of searches. When the credits run out you can buy another starter card instead of the top-up card which only gives you 30 credits and costs the same. It saves a lot if you are looking up lots of Scottish records.

Hi Mhairi

If you could look up a death for me would be much appreciated
Death of Edward Bissick ( a mention in a probate of his brothers )says in or around 1849 by drowning in the River Clyde, and if the is a coronors report for this.

thanks
Carole

Hi Carole,

Just to let you know that Mhari visited Edinburgh Records Office last week and on that visit she was only looking up fairly modern records (I think). Hope you're not too disappointed. I hope you find him. :)

^^ Jan?

You've already asked me to do this, and will have the information up as soon as I can.

Carole

I can see Sorcha has already helped you out with this :) Just to let you know though, that general registration did not start in Scotland till 1855 and anything before that is a little scketchy - especially deaths. Coronors report I'm not too sure on, but you can have a look on the National Archives of Scotland website (do a catelogue search) and see if anything comes up.

Could not find Lucy Hackney though I think I know why. Death cert gave 15/05/1910, so I went and searched around then for any other Hackney’s and came up with the birth of;

Joseph Cartwright Hackney
14/06/1922
24 Mains Loan, Dundee.

Marriages marriage was listed as 25th June 1905 - London.

So think this is probably her

Births Jun 1910 (>99%)

HACKNEY Lucy Staines 3a 12

And parents marriage.

Marriages Jun 1905 (>99%)

Cartwright Marshall Stewart Hendon 3a 551
HACKNEY Thomas Hendon 3a 551

I have found a couple of children born to the marriage of Alexander to Lucy if you’d be interested in them? Let me know and I’ll pm you the details. Also, did you want the death details as well? If so I can get them for you the next time I go.

Can I ask where you got your information from, for this family?

I found

William James Taylor
16/06/1910 Stirling Village, Boddam

Alexander George Taylor
14/05/1905 Sess? Cottages, Methlick

Mary Isabella Taylor
07/05/1906 Sesonie? Cottages, Methlick

Children of

Alexander Shand Taylor
Mary Mutch Wilson

They where the only children, born at that time period, who’s mother was called Wilson. Which contradicts your information, but I’m pretty sure this is the right family.

Alexander and Mary married 26/08/1904 and that marriage will be available for you to view on Scotlandspeople for parents names and such.

Death

Alexander Taylor (died aged 43)
Married to Mary Wilson
12/12/1915
The Square ?haven, Peterhead

Birth

Mary Mutch Wilson
20/02/1884 Berryhill, Peterhead
George Wilson
Jessie Mutch

Sandra

Sorry I didn’t get round to your Campbells this time. They are first on my list for my next visit, which will either be the end of next week, or the week after.
