Hi, trying to locate Dorothy( nee Booth) or info regarding Dennis. I know he died in 1980 in Lincoln. Dorothy and Dennis married in Lincoln in 1959.
I would particularly like to find his burial site or find info about him.

Thanks

Cedric D Hartley

The reason I asked Cedric if that was her mmn Starr1 was in case this was the death -

Age at death (estimated): 64

This is the correct Dennis Lawrence Hartley. His first wife was Joyce Irene Ansell they married 1952. Not sure of the divorce date. They were my parents, it`s his burial place I need to locate.

Cedric

I have only found about the marriage in the last few days, would have to get the marriage certificate to confirm her maiden name.

In 1980, I would imagine he was likely cremated. You could contact Lincoln Cemeteries and Crematoria who should be able to help. If there was a family grave that he was buried in, they should be able to tell you.

Cedric

Cedric Report 31 May 2010 09:03

This is correct, at the time of marriage he was in the RAF police and residing at Fitzwilliam Road Rotherham.

It`s the marriage to Dorothy Booth that interests me, Joyce was my mother. I know where his location is now thanks to Lincoln bereavment service. I e mailed them yesterday afternoon and received a reply this morning. I am very grateful to them for such a fast response.

Spouse Dorothy Booth.

I'm not sure what you are trying to find, Cedric. Can you tell us?

Cedric

Cedric Report 1 Jun 2010 20:50

What am I trying to find? Well, over the last week I have discovered that I am 30 years too late. Dennis and Joyce were my parents, their relationship so I was told ended at the time I was being born in Rotherham 1952. I never met him and know nothing about him I didn`t want to cause any grief to anyone so I just didn`t try to locate him. Part of me was saying never mind other peoples feeling but another part was saying don`t be selfish. Finally I would like to at least visit him where he is interred. Very soppy but it`s something I have to do. Looks like a trip to Lincoln this week.

Thank you Jean

There are a few here to choose from but for accuracy I will have to obtain the marriage certificate for Dennis and Dorothy. I have no relationship with Dorothy save that she married my father. Therefore I would just view her information out of curiosity.

Oh, Cedric, I did not mean to be sarcastic, I just didn't know what else you wanted to know.

No, you are not soppy, just a guy who wants to determine his past, and his dad, and now you have the grave details, I hope you will take some flowers, and put them there, as I have done with other relatives, on graves never previously known about.

We are the same age, Cedric, you and me. I've sought out relatives too, and some have been a bit traumatic. Good luck in your quest to find your father. Let us know when you do.

Best wishes

Margaret

Thank you Margaret, I now know he is at the crematorium in Lincoln. I hope to visit this weekend. Thanks for the flower idea, we were/are both Yorkshiremen so it`s got to be a white rose. I will keep you informed, once again thank you for your kind comments.

Awe Cedric, reading this has made me feel very emotional at the moment.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, now that you will be re-united at the weekend in Lincoln.
Be Brave and have a safe journey

Thank you Julia, not sure what emotions I am feeling at the moment. Very odd `cos I never thought I would feel too much, not felt anything like it before.

I echo Julia's sentiments.

The White Rose it must be - my daughter has just married a Yorkshireman.

Be prepared for any emotions that might arise, and accept that they are all perfectly understandable.

Like Julia, I am in Derbyshire.

My great grandmother was a Hartley from Wadsley, Sheffield.

I will be thinking of you.

Best wishes,

Margaret
