Unfortunately Mitchell is a rather popular name and there are quite a few deaths that could be either of them.
Ancestry or Find my Past have the records to 2005/6.

yes ive sent for kathleen but not william yet but yes financially I need to be careful so only ordering what I really need to find out x Thank you for your help though. You peeps really are wonderful. I couldnt find a death for either mitchell parents but free bmd seem to stop mid 1900's. Do you know any other ways to find this if you are not aware of when they died?
thanks

Nope, getting nowhere with such little info on Ronnie, sorry.
Did you send for the Kathleen Kenny birth and the William Mitchell one?
Or is one in the same condition as myself at the moment...a bit financially strapped?

If his mother died when he was young and he was brought up by the Lynch family maybe he prefered to be known as Lynch as he loved them?
And there was no "legal"adoption until 1929 I think it was.
It happened back then as it does now.

Only one way to find out if that is his birth unfortunately..

Ronald Lynch may have been his "adoptive"parents son ,but he still called him "brother",lots of things to bring in to the reasons for things.

Was Ronald older or younger and where would he have been born and who did he marry?
Just a train of thought I would like to follow up.

Gotta cook, back in an hour or so to have another look.

Is this Ronald?

Name: Ronald Lynch
Birth Date: 13 Sep 1927
Death Registration Month/Year: 1983
Registration district: Southwark
Inferred County: London
Volume: 15
Page: 0066

Probably not as I think his fathers name is Michael Lynch.

Clare

Clare Report 1 Oct 2010 16:19

If this is william mitchell then why would he change his name to lynch? he often left mum and her brother with alice when william and kathleen fell out (often) so I would think that she was his real sister. was this common then?

JaneyCanuck Report 1 Oct 2010 15:36

Wait, wait, I *am* confused. Is this the birth cert you're talking about?

Name: Kathleen Manning
Mother's Maiden Surname: Manning
Date of Registration: Jan Feb Mar 1921
Registration district: Kensington
Registration county: Greater London
Volume Number: 1a
Page Number: 145

Yes, I think we'd mostly ruled that one out but you'd already ordered it, I guess.

Sorry to talk at cross-purposes here but I'm sticking to Kathleen. ;)

So you haven't got the Kenny birth cert yet?

Clare

Clare Report 1 Oct 2010 15:36

JaneyCanuck Report 1 Oct 2010 15:29

Already I'm lost.

"well the manning birth cert for kathleen is definatly no match as it says mannering."

I don't know what says Mannering. Father's name? Isn't that a little coincidental, if so, since what we were looking for was Manning?

-- Hold on -- wasn't it a *Kenny* birth certificate you were getting? Is that what you're referring to?

Clare, can you just tell us everything on the birth certificate?

Name, date of birth, names of parents, who registered, etc. etc.

The fact that Kathleen stated her father to be Martin Kenny when she married doesn't mean he was ...

I'm going to bypass the William Lynch business for now and stick to Kathleen, myself. ;)

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 1 Oct 2010 15:29

Was he born in that area of London?

Edits...
Janey.
I stayed out of the Kathleen one on purpose as thats your baby..:)
