Could someone please look up my mums family, my mums Doris her middle name was Wignall, she told me her mum died when she was young, i found a Rose b 1882, who died when my mum was 12. G'mas name was supposedly Margaret Rose Smith before she married Thomas Smith in 1905. I once found a Thomas Wignall Smith, but i don't know where and i have a Thomas William, i'm running out of credits going round in circles...

have you got your mother's birth certificate Mary. To solve her parentage with a name like Smith I think you need it.

Is that family yours form the 1911 census, assuming you know the name of your Doris's siblings

lanashireAnn : the 1911 census is correct for mum and 2 uncles, i will have to get a birth cert, i have asked my sister if she has one but i haven't heard back from her yet. just my luck to have a Smith marrying a Smith !

Flip : thanks for the 1881 census, Jessie wasn't on the other census so she either died or married, Ann A 1874 on the 81 must be Ann Eliza 1875 on the 91,

Thank you . mary

I suspect that census age in 1881 should read 6mths not 6yrs as it it llisted below the 1876 birth
MMN for the others was Robinson also

Can i just ask :- What is " IGI" ?
and what is " N K VIEW" on the census form for Robert Smith from Flip,
Thanks mary.

Flip

Flip Report 31 Jan 2011 22:26

NK is Not Known (ie whoever gave the information to the census collector didn't know where the person was born) - View simply refers to the transcript where you can click to view the original image. Obviously you can't do this from the copy/paste onto this thread.

IGI is the International Geological Index - you can access it from www.familysearch.org for free, and there are other sites which charge. There may be other free sites, but I'm not sure.

IGI is International Genealogical Index. (Nothing to do with geology!)
