Hi Jayne

I have only just picked up on this thread as a result of a Google search but I thought I would add my twopen'orth for what it is worth. William Tunmore born in Bunwell on 10th April 1856 was my great grandfather. He died in Norwich Hospital on 15th March 1928 aged 71. He certainly did not commit suicide. He died of "an intestinal obstruction, bowel adhesions and diabetes". There was no post mortem. I'm not sure why he left probate to his son-in-law, George Wenn, when his wife, Hannah Guyton, was still alive but he seems to have been a farmer working on his 'own account' from home - see the 1911 census. I have a photo of him with his son Frederick and his wife Bertha on a motorbike.

As this post is well out of date you probably know all of this by now. If you have any further information you can share I would be very grateful.

Hi again Porkie Pie,
Sorry - in my frustration, I used the term census rather than death records - my apologies. . .
Thank you so much though for the death record - I will request a copy today!!
Thanks also to everyone who has helped as well!
Cheers
Jayne :-)

Jayne, for some reason you seem adamant that your William Tunmore born 1873 Blofield died in 1928 even though you have no hard evidance for this, as we said the other day on page one of this thread the 1928 death is his father also with the same name William Tunmore and born 1857 as you already now about

you say that you cannot buy the cert because you cannot find his death in 1928, you will not find his death in 1928 because he is not on the index for that year, the only death on the index that fits his details is the one Shirley found for you and as i have said with others(several times!) the only way to prove/disprove is to buy the cert here are the details again

Name: William Tunmore
Birth Date: abt 1874
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1918
Age at Death: 44
Registration district: Norwich
Inferred County: Norfolk
Volume: 4b
Page: 238

His death will not be on census records for 1928/29 becaus there were no census's in those years and deaths are not recorded on census's anyway

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your reply - we do know about this family, but there is no contact at all , which is fine but not really associated to what we are looking for . .
What I have asked (several times!) where his death certificate is as I have trawled through all of the census records for 1928 and 1929 and William is not there so am unable to purchase the a death record?
It's all a bit frustrating!!
But thanks for your help

Yes, this is the correct Mary Ann Tunmore (Nee Brown) thanks and I also have all of their children on the 1911 census, apart from the last one who was born in 1912.

Thanks

Jayne, I don't think there are any more clues. The only thing you can do is obtain hard facts by getting certificates with the information already provided.

People who commit suicide do have their deaths registered in the normal way so, yes - there would be a registration and certificate.

You can order certificates on-line from General Register Office (GRO) - http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/. They cost £9.25

The 1928 probate info that Jan has posted does seem to relate to the death of the William Tunmore born 1857.

Hi All,

OK - so I've trawled through all of the Tunmores again and there is still no entry for William 's death in 1928 Norwich.. . . .

Does anyone have any clues please?

Many thanks

Hi Jan,

Yes, I wondered about the Wenn connection - but if they are attached to the Tunmores in Norwich, there may have been some contact, but from what I've found so far, they wouldn't be visiting each other as they didn't get on. Perhaps that might be the reason - the other side got the money and our lot didn't?

Hi Jan,

There are two lots of Tunmores in and around the coastal areas, but one lot decided to move to Great Yarmouth (where they stil live) and the others stayed in Norwich, so I am more than happy to go with what you have sent to me, which fits with all of the other info that I have - except for the death details which I need to confirm everything . . .
Do folks who commit suicide actually have deathy certificates? I'm assuming that they must?
Thanks again,
Jayne :-)

Hi again folks,
Unfortunately we had a power cut in our village last night so I've only just been able to get back on line.
Thanks for your help though. I will have another trawl to find a William Tunmore to see if there are any others that might fit the criteria age-wise and see if it does actually exist.
