Find Ancestors

Hi everyone. I am looking to try and trace back my mothers side of the family but have immediately hit problems. My mum's dad was a coal miner in Pleasley, near Mansfield in Nottinghamshire and died in 1974. He was born in 1906.

The only record I can find in the 1911 census has his parents as Ernest and Eliza Hannah, with siblings Beatrice Alice, Eliza Hannah, Ernest, William, and John Robert.

However, although my mother doesn't remember her grandparents and cannot give me details of them, she remembers that her dad had brothers Ernest and William and sisters Nelly and Ida, which doesn't match the above record.

I'm going to send for my grandfather's birth certificate but before I do I thought I would ask on here.

There are 3 possible families on 1901 census. Ernest and Eliza/Elizabeth Swan(n).

I think your best option is to order a copy of Albert's birth cert to make sure you trace the correct family

I have more information now from Albert's birth certificate and would like to order the marriage certificate for his parents but want to make sure I order the right one.

So, Albert Swann was born 1st October 1906. His father's name was Ernest Swann and his mother's name was Eliza Walters.

I have found a reference to marriage for Ernest 7B 313 and want to know if that's the right one to order. However, I cannot find a corresponding record for Eliza Walters that matches the above record number.

Can anyone shed any light?
